Ticket to Heaven Episode 3 Review: Directed by Aof Noppharnach Chaiwimol, เด็กชายไม่ไปสวรรค์ continues to establish itself as one of the most emotionally layered Thai BL dramas of the year. Starring Gemini Norawit Titicharoenrak as Barth and Fourth Nattawat Jirochtikul as Tanrak, alongside Ashi Peerakan Teawsuwan, An Oliver Poupart, Bright Rapheephong Thapsuwan, Pun Poon Sutarom and others. The series explores faith, identity, friendship, and love within the strict environment of a Catholic boarding school.
Ticket to Heaven Episode 3 Recap
This episode 3 of Ticket to Heaven begins with Tanrak still trying to sort through his emotions after what happened last week. It has become so tough for him that even a vacation is something hard for him to look forward to now. During a talk on confession and sin, a joke made about Tanrak never doing anything wrong somehow hits a soft spot in him. Already dealing with emotions that he does not quite understand, Tanrak seems to retreat further into himself. He eventually goes to Father Arnon for advice, and the priest tells him that emotions are not sins and that fear should not keep him from God.

Almost immediately, Barth can sense that something is not right with him. Wanting to make Tanrak laugh again, he tries to coax the boy out of his depression by any means necessary throughout most of the episode, including making fun of him in class and hanging out with him outside of school. He even goes as far as to persuade him to skip class to go to the market. The sequence at the market is one of the best parts of the episode because they assist the owner of the doughnut shop in filling an order and end up eating one extra donut together.
Nevertheless, the situation gets worse when rumours start making the rounds about both Barth and Cherry. The rumours start after their chance meeting during choir practice makes them spend more time together, and people immediately assume that they are having a relationship. Though Tanrak never admits to why the rumours hurt him so much, his actions clearly show that he is affected by the same. The rumours have been growing ever since Cherry asked Barth to join her for the Christmas play organised by the church. Even though Barth keeps trying to convince Tanrak of his intentions and asks for his permission, too, Tanrak just cannot stop feeling sad every time he sees Barth with Cherry.

The climax of this emotional struggle occurs during the Christmas play practice sessions. At one point, Tanrak takes pleasure in going for a fun bicycle ride with Barth to rehearsal, but gets depressed after seeing Barth laughing with Cherry. He pretends he is ill and exits prematurely. Still, he discreetly drops his umbrella for Barth during the rainy walk back home.
In the ending of Ticket to Heaven episode 3, we see Barth enter the showers to get answers from Tanrak regarding his sudden withdrawal. What is meant to be a teasing moment becomes an emotionally charged discussion. Almost after having a romantic moment in the darkness, they are both interrupted, but Barth does not stop there. He searches for Tanrak and then confronts him with his feelings; he reveals to him that he has had feelings for him ever since, feelings of love towards boys, specifically him. This revelation helps Tanrak overcome all of his fears and confusion, breaking the barrier and giving them both a passionate kiss.

Ticket to Heaven Episode 3 Review
This is the episode when all the things that have been building up until now got their due rewards. While the previous two episodes concentrated on setting up the link between Barth and Tanrak, Thai BL drama episode 3 of Ticket to Heaven explores its emotional effects. What I liked most in this episode is the patience with which the whole thing about Tanrak’s inner conflict is handled. There are no grandiloquent speeches; instead, the whole thing about what Tanrak feels can be understood from his glances and reactions.
Nattawat as Tanrak gives some of his best performances yet in this movie. As I have mentioned before, too, there are even scenes where he does not talk, yet you can see his emotions clearly. From the way he feels sad during the gossip about Barth and Cherry, the disappointment he feels during rehearsal, and the confusion with his own emotions, everything is very believable. Gemini Norawit is also great at acting as Barth. The reason Barth is so great is that he knows what the problem is better than Tanrak does, but he never pushes him into saying anything that he’s not ready for.

The conversation between Father Arnon and Tanrak becomes the most significant part of the themes of this episode, while Cherry unwittingly serves as the impetus that makes Tanrak face his suppressed emotions. Even small incidents with Kongdech and singing sessions add to the setting in which the world around him is moving forward, but Tanrak is emotionally stranded.
The climax of the episode is definitely one of the most impressive in a BL series that I watched this year. In my opinion, the reason why the scene where Barth confesses his love and kisses Kuro is particularly memorable lies in the buildup which took place throughout the entire show, making the viewer feel all those emotions experienced by the protagonist. In the course of the episode, longing, misunderstanding, jealousy, fear, and self-denial are skillfully depicted in order to create the necessary background against which the climactic scene will appear natural and even inevitable.

All in all, the Thai series Ticket to Heaven episode 3 is definitely one of the best in the series, and it combines both romance and some great character development in a single episode. At the same time, this episode allows the viewer to dive deeper into the theme of faith and its significance for people’s identity, providing some of the best emotional moments in the show yet. Now that Barth and Tanrak have finally realised their relationship, the whole plot of the series is going to change completely.
