Man on Fire Ending Explained
How Did Creasy Reach Emanuel Ferraz?
John Creasy finally makes contact with Emanuel Ferraz after taking an extremely big risk by breaking into the federal prison in which Ferraz is incarcerated. In any case, John Creasy at this time is still searching for clues about the true culprit of the murder committed during the apartment bombing that caused the deaths of Paul Rayburn and all his family members. According to the official version, this is Emanuel Ferraz, along with his radical organisation. However, this version seems to be doubtful for John Creasy.
Ferraz proves himself to be much more astute than one would have thought during the exchange, when he understands right away that Creasy is not his adversary, but that they are both victims of political intrigue. In order to gain yet another favour from Creasy, Ferraz deceives him by telling him that he has evidence of President Carmo and Prado Soares’ criminal activities on tape, so that Creasy allows him to place a call to guarantee the security of his loved ones. Once their escape plan falters and after the call is made, Ferraz confesses that the tapes never existed at all, as an excuse for the lie.
Unfortunately, once Ferraz proves to be a problem because he is no longer useful to the people he was blackmailing, his destiny is set in stone. He is interrogated cruelly once he has been detained, and before any more details come out or become problematic for anyone, he is done away with by Soares. Ultimately, he dies as a fall guy, someone unjustly accused of a crime, but he managed to take care of his family in death.

Who was Responsible for the Bomb Blast?
It is initially believed that the bombing of the house was done by Ferraz and the FRP, which is proven to be a well-crafted falsehood. In reality, the real culprits for the bombing are President Carmo, his security chief Prado Soares, and CIA agent Henry Tappen. This bombing was not a case of terrorism but rather a strategic manoeuvre intended to influence the masses and help Carmo win the election.
The strategy developed by Carmo involved the creation of panic in the general population to be able to implement strict controls over the nation. By carrying out a terrorist attack and implicating Ferraz as the person behind it, he wanted to neutralise the opposition and act as a saviour of the nation who was fighting against terrorism. The key role of Soares was to ensure that the implementation part of the strategy was carried out flawlessly. This was done through the efforts of Tappen, who used his expertise in intelligence.
And what made this situation even more dire is the fact that the original target for the explosion was not actually Rayburn’s building. However, the plan was altered at the very last second since Rayburn had become suspicious about some anomaly within the system. Tapping was afraid that his secret would be exposed, which led him to convince Carmo and Soares to dispose of Rayburn completely. This meant that the bomb was an act of political propaganda as well as murder.

How Did Creasy Trick Tappen and Soares?
Among the most intelligent schemes in the story was the plan devised by Creasy to outwit Tappen and Soares using a combination of manipulation rather than sheer muscle. Realising that he could not confront such important and guarded people, he came up with a trick to make them move under threat of exposure. Creasy created an elaborate scheme where the two men were told that there was some sort of tape recorded by Ferraz exposing them as the real bombers.
In order to get this set-up believable, Creasy and his gang create a false robbery scene in one of their associates’ apartments. In this fake robbery, a vital key is planted, which takes them to a bank’s safe deposit box containing the so-called “evidence”. Vico, who is one of Creasy’s associates, deliberately allows himself to be caught by the police and gives out enough information during the course of his interrogation to send Tappen and Soares in the direction that Creasy desires.
But the tape in the box turns out to be nothing but a decoy. It contains no recording but rather a substance that will poison them badly when played. As a result, both Tappen and Soares are admitted into the hospital, just like Creasy had expected. Through this ploy, Creasy manages to strip the two away from their highly protected environments and place them in a vulnerable situation where he can finally meet up with them.

Was Creasy Successful in Taking His Revenge?
By the end of Man on Fire, Creasy succeeds in avenging his grievances, but it takes its toll on him both physically and emotionally. His quest goes beyond eliminating those who harmed him; rather, he wants to reveal the facts and ensure justice for Paul Rayburn and other victims whose lives were destroyed in the blast. Finally, after completing his elaborate revenge plan, Creasy makes it to the hospital where Tappen and Soares are.
In the enclosed space, Creasy confronts Tappen. Although he suffers from physical injuries and a sudden onset of PTSD, he perseveres and kills Tappen. The reason why his revenge against Tappen was imperative is that Tappen rigged a dead man’s switch. Tappen’s death would result in the automatic release of video evidence revealing the conspiracy among Tappen, Carmo, and Soares.
During the chaos, Creasy murders Soares, ensuring that he neither escapes nor hurts Poe. As a result, two of the main conspirators die, and evidence leaks, resulting in the arrest of President Carmo. Thus, Creasy’s revenge reaches its culmination in the elimination of the perpetrators of the crime and the whole system that made it possible. Nevertheless, the revenge is bittersweet since it cannot return those who are already dead.

How did Soares die?
Soares gets killed by Prado during the fierce battle that takes place in the hospital. Even after getting trapped by Creasy and being admitted to the hospital due to the poison tape, Soares continues trying to control the scene. But it all starts unravelling when Creasy sneaks into the hospital to complete what he began.
With chaos ensuing, Soares tries to reassert his dominance more than anything, particularly when he runs into Poe. It is at this point that he poses a direct danger to her well-being, prompting Creasy to take action. With Creasy already enraged and in mourning, he does not miss the chance when presented with one. He engages Soares in battle and kills him as part of their exchange.

The killing of Soares is important since it means the end of Carmo’s close circle. He was not just a subordinate figure in Carmo’s scheme but a vital member who played an important role in implementing all of the president’s schemes, thus keeping them under wraps. His death means that he can no longer conceal the truth about Carmo and the rest.
Will there be a Man on Fire Season 2?
Even though the first season concludes the overall story arc, there is a very clear indication that there will be another season to follow. In the ending of Man on Fire, Creasy gets a phone call from CIA Director Moncrief, who presents Creasy with a new assignment, one that is very close to Creasy’s heart. This assignment revolves around finding out what really happened in Mexico City, an event that has been troubling Creasy all along.

This is indicative of the fact that the plot is far from over. In season 2 of the Man on Fire series, the location will definitely change, and the emphasis will be put on the corrupt elements in the intelligence department in Mexico. Furthermore, it can be argued that the conspiracy against Creasy’s previous assignment might have had even greater ramifications, extending all the way up the CIA ladder.
