What Happened on the Day of the Election?

Election day becomes the decisive moment when all the dirty tricks meet simultaneously. Tae-seob prepares an unexpected attack on his rival by leaking his financial fraud; it is expected to give him an upper hand at the critical juncture. What Tae-seob does not expect, however, is a much nastier and more destructive move by Yang-mi, who had been working on it all along.

As soon as his political exposure starts making rounds, Yang-mi’s revengeful attack begins with a bang on the day of the elections. At the very height of the voting process, the personal footage of Sang-ah goes public and takes precedence over any political scandal imaginable. The timing of the leak works perfectly for both; it brings down the reputation of Sang-ah while destroying Tae-seob’s chances. The planned election process transforms into a circus fueled by anger, rage, and public disgust.

How Does Hwang Jeong-won Die?

One can safely say that the death of Jeong-won becomes the climax of the story, as, in this case, it is the most symbolic element of the entire plot. In the final stage of confrontation between the characters, Sang-ah attempts to think of ways to seek revenge from Yang-mi and convinces Jeong-won to give some evidence to incriminate her. However, despite her initial reluctance, Jeong-won cannot help being punished for her actions, and at the same time, her relationship with Sang-ah remains relevant.

In the course of the plot, a masked man appears; he belongs to Ji-ho and wants nothing but to kill Sang-ah. At the end of the climax of the Korean drama, Jeong-won takes the masked man’s knife that is aimed at Sang-ah; hence, Jeong-won kills herself to pay for her betrayal. Jeong-won’s death can become the reparation for her manipulation and exploitation of Sang-ah.

How Does Tae-seob Clear Sang-ah’s Name from the Scandal?

After the decline of Sang-ah’s reputation because of the scandal, Tae-seob understands that it will not be wise to continue engaging in a direct fight with Yang-mi. In this case, he opts to utilise the authority that he has, although it takes a little while before doing so. The moment the decisive move occurs is when he discovers critical information that proves that Yang-mi has been involved in several illegal activities using Jeong-won’s items.

Instead of revealing his findings publicly, Tae-seob attempts to bargain. He does not confront Yang-mi but instead acts as if he can cooperate with her on certain terms. Namely, Tae-seob asks her not to pursue the criminal case against Yang-mi if she agrees to get rid of the scandal regarding Sang-ah. In return, in Climax Episode 10, Yang-mi manages to spin the story around, making the scandal appear like a misunderstanding with the movie being leaked instead of the personal life of its protagonist.

Do Tae-seob and Sang-ah Defeat Yang-mi?

But their eventual victory over her is not an instant one; it occurs after a lengthy process of planning and coordination on their part. After overcoming the direct effects of their plans, they begin to act separately in the political and entertainment arenas with the sole intention of reaching a common goal. Once they meet again, they realise that working together is more powerful and effective than ever.

Slowly but surely, they work to ruin the entire network that Yang-mi had been constructing all these years by combining their own strengths to do so. Because of his increasing political influence, Tae-seob was able to uncover the wrongdoings of Yang-mi and those connected to her. On the other hand, Sang-ah regained her reputation and made sure that she couldn’t use her influence to control the masses. All of that leads to a point when there is enough solid proof about Yang-mi committing some grave crimes to force law enforcement agencies to apprehend her and put her behind bars.

What Ultimately Happens to Yang-mi at the end of Climax?

Yang-mi’s defeat looks final at first. Having always been able to escape all forms of punishment thanks to her strength, she ends up exposed and imprisoned owing to the involvement she played in several crimes. What once was a vast network of powers turns out to be used against her, with the inevitable decline of her fortune being apparent. For some time, it even seems like the vicious cycle she has been perpetuating forever is coming to an end.

However, destiny decides otherwise, with years passing before she finally finds a pardon, thus showing her power is still very much alive. In fact, in the ending of Climax Episode 10, her release alone creates a sense of anxiety, especially when she attempts to reach out to Sang-ah. Through this narrative turn, it becomes clear that the likes of Yang-mi are always prepared to come back stronger.

Will There Be a Climax Season 2?

The ending of the Climax kdrama, the world that they live in is full of interconnections between power, ambition, and survival. Indeed, Tae-seob and Sang-ah reach everything they ever wanted to reach: status, influence, and success. However, while trying to achieve their goals, they become people who know very well how to deal with the system. The couple that was originally founded on manipulation turns into partners motivated by the same ambitions and desires.

There are still many aspects of the story that have been left unresolved. The release of Yang-mi, her attempts at making amends with Sang-ah, as well as the alteration in power dynamics within the WR Group, may suggest that the war is not over and the cycle repeats itself, albeit differently.
