The Affair Was Just the Beginning Ending Explained
What Really Happened to Na-sol, and Why Was He Killed?
The death of Na-sol is among the major enigmas in this drama since, at first, the family believed that the body they found was of someone who had died. In truth, Na-sol was very much alive following the accident between Ye-ji and Min-seo. The girls were behind the wheel at the time of the collision and fled from the scene in fear. After that, Sang-cheol came and saw Na-sol alive. In his attempt to retrieve his mobile phone and manage the evidence linked to this crime, Sang-cheol entered into an argument with him and hit him on the head with a fragment of broken glass.
This second assault took place nearly 19 minutes after the initial collision, and this is what led to Na-sol’s death. Sang-cheol then went to eliminate the evidence that would have been used against him for his involvement in Na-sol’s murder. He took out the dashcam memory card from the car and disposed of Na-sol’s car in the river. Sang-cheol believed that he was now safe from any legal trouble after getting rid of all the evidence.

What Sang-cheol failed to know was that there was yet another dashcam that had recorded everything. The police discovered the car and found the footage on this second dashcam in which Sang-cheol murdered Na-sol. Hence, even though the girls were responsible for causing the accident, they did not murder Na-sol.
How Did Sang-cheol Die?
The death of Sang-cheol occurs amidst the confrontation taking place at the home of Kyeong-hee. At this stage, there is suspicion all around, and it emerges that Sang-cheol is actually the private detective who has been snooping on the secrets of the family. Sang-cheol tries to threaten them using the information that he has by asking them to stay away from the police, but instead, he asks for the return of his phone. He even offers to keep their secrets provided they let him go. But Bo-sung is not interested.

With the arrival of the police after the neighbours have reported all the noise that is heard, the scene becomes even more chaotic. While Bo-sung tries to reach for the door, Jae-hong holds on to Bo-sung to stop him. Meanwhile, Sang-cheol tries to make his way through them to get his phone back from Kyeong-hee. During the struggle, Bo-sung holds on to Sang-cheol to get away from Jae-hong, which causes Sang-cheol to stumble and fall on the table with its glass surface, hitting his head on the way down. While he tries to rise, he falls again and ends up with serious injuries. Before Sang-cheol is taken to the hospital, he is already dead.
How Did Kyeong-hee and Su-jeong Save Their Daughters from Na-do?
The girls find themselves stuck in a highly perilous situation after Na-do learns that they know something about the death of Na-sol. Na-do learns of their presence after overhearing their conversation about the body in the vacation home. Na-do had already formed suspicions about their involvement in the demise of his twin brother, so he questions the girls one by one: Min-seo and Se-ji. After learning that their testimonies did not add up, he understands that they are hiding something. He gets so angry that he jeopardises their lives; even Se-ji tries to fight back but ends up fainting.

Finally, Kyeong-hee and Su-jeong arrive at the place after they use the tracking app that Su-jeong planted into Min-seo’s phone without her knowledge. Kyeong-hee and Su-jeong try to talk to Na-do. They tried to save the girls from being harmed and decided to give Na-do wrong information. Even Kyeong-hee blamed Min-seo when Na-do asked who was driving the car in the car crash. But everything became even worse when Su-jeong provided Na-do with proof of Kyeong-hee and Jae-hong burying Na-sol.
But when Jae-hong and Bo-sung come, the adults are ready for their fight too. Jae-hong tries to drive his car at Na-do, but due to its automatic brake system, it doesn’t work. After this, the women enter the battle too, with Kyeong-hee spraying him with pepper spray and Su-jeong hitting him with the help of the fire extinguisher. After some time, he falls into the underground storeroom, due to which he hits his head and ends up dead inside the cemented grave of Na-sol.

What Happens to Na-do in the End of The Affair Was Just the Beginning?
Na-do arrives at the holiday house since he has finally managed to connect the families with his lost twin brother, Na-sol. Having followed the hints given by the family members, Na-do finds out how their holiday house is linked to the place where the belongings of his brother have been thrown away. After realising that the girls know far more than they want to admit, Na-do does not just question them but becomes aggressive.
Ultimately, his clash with the family will be the cause of his downfall. In The Affair Was Just the Beginning episode 8, when Na-do forces Kyeong-hee to show him the grave site of Na-sol, he ends up being beaten by all four family members. This fight takes place within the confines of the garage, where Kyeong-hee and Su-jeong help Na-do to be overpowered. Na-do ends up falling into the underground room and gets a fatal blow to the head. He dies in the underground room while resting over the grave of his deceased brother. Ultimately, the family decides to also conceal his dead body from the outside world.

How Does the Family Get Away With All Their Crimes?
They succeed in staying away from direct exposure since they have each committed their own crime and, at the same time, have incriminating information on each other. After Na-do dies, Kyeong-hee and Jae-hong bury his body along with that of Na-sol and even bury Sang-cheol. They get rid of all the clothes that might help them connect to the deaths of the people. However, the cover-up job is not entirely successful for them. The police find Na-sol’s car and get hold of the second dashcam video of Sang-cheol murdering Na-sol.
The key factor which leads to the lack of punishment for the families is that the investigation does not disclose the whole truth about what happened at the vacation house. The police discover that Na-do visited this place and start asking Kyeong-hee and Jae-hong about it, as he had been seen there for the last time.

Kyeong-hee discloses the information about the affair with Jae-hong instead of telling about the death of Na-do in this situation in order to invent another version of his participation in this story. This information is disclosed to the public; as a result, Kyeong-hee and Jae-hong have to apologise publicly while Su-jeong appears to be the villain of the story. However, the families choose to keep silent as they know everything to ruin each other.
Do Kyeong-hee and Su-jeong’s Families Resolve their Issues?
Hardly. At the end of The Affair Was Just the Beginning drama, there is no reconciliation between the two families. In fact, the relationship between the two families has already broken down because of the revelation of Su-jeong’s love affair with Jae-hong and because Min-seo was actually the one responsible for the hit-and-run that Ye-ji tried to protect her from. The adults also fight against each other when faced with Sang-cheol and Na-do. Everyone ends up blaming someone else for the sequence of events that led them to ruin their lives. Kyeong-hee even asks Jae-hong for a divorce.

Everything aside, however, it turns out that the families stay at arm’s length from one another rather than reconcile in earnest. All of them are put under pressure due to the fact that they all have information that can get the others into trouble. There is, thus, no clear-cut happy ending where everybody forgives everybody else and walks away. Instead, they are all bound to one another through the secrets that they are obliged to keep hidden. Though Bo-sung keeps giving his monthly paychecks to Kyeong-hee and Su-jeong, their relationship is still quite tense and suspicious.
How Does The Affair Was Just the Beginning Ends?
The Affair Was Just the Beginning ends with the successful cover-up of the deaths of Na-do and Sang-cheol, yet the results of what the characters did do not leave them untouched. After a month following the confrontation, the police find Na-sol’s car and the second dash cam and finally come to know that the one responsible for the death of Na-sol is none other than Sang-cheol. As a result of the investigation of Na-sol, they get to Na-do, who was last seen in the family’s holiday home.
Kyeong-hee reveals the true identity of Jae-hong and, with the help of his connection to Na-do, comes up with a different reason behind the investigation. As a result, a scandal breaks out, and Jae-hong and Kyeong-hee have to apologise. The final irony lies in the interpretation of the murders by the police. They link Sang-cheol and the two private investigators and make their interpretation of what happened. As per their interpretation, Sang-cheol murdered Na-sol, Na-do came to know about it and went against them, and Du-sik was linked to events that followed.

The police even get to find out the fact that Du-sik attempted to murder Na-do by ramming him with his vehicle. While the families have no comments, they prefer to be quiet since revealing the truth will mean revealing their own wrongdoings. At the ending of The Affair Was Just the Beginning, we see that all of them watch a crime drama that depicts Du-sik and Sang-cheol as the people who committed murder against the twins.
