Undercover High School Episode 2 Recap
As Undercover High School Episode 2 begins, Hae-seong sneaks into the school’s mysterious abandoned building. Just as he’s about to investigate, he’s suddenly held at gunpoint—but it turns out the “gun” is actually a tear gas launcher, and the person behind it is none other than O Su-a, who was patrolling the school. Hae-seong manages to escape without revealing his identity, leaving Su-a unable to see his face.

The next day, Byeongmoon Foundation’s chairwoman, Seo Myeong-ju, is informed about the break-in. CCTV footage didn’t capture the intruder because they used a device to manipulate it. Seo Myeong-ju is convinced the person will return, so she orders tighter security.
Back at school, Hae-seong notices that his seatmate, Lee Dong-min, is missing from class. The school’s bullies claim he was unwell and left, but it’s clear something is off. Although Hae-seong promised not to interfere in school matters to protect his identity, curiosity gets the better of him. While roaming near the abandoned building, he hears noises from a dumpster—inside, he finds Dong-min, tied up with tape over his mouth. It’s obvious Dong-min has been bullied. Hae-seong helps him and listens to his story.
However, just as they’re talking, teacher O Su-a arrives and mistakes Hae-seong for the bully. Though Hae-seong tries to clear his name, he leaves frustrated.

Meanwhile, Hae-seong’s NIS team discovers a shocking connection. Chairwoman Seo Myeong-ju has announced an $800 million project to transform Seongju into an educational hub. The team suspects this project might be a cover to launder Emperor Gojong’s legendary gold, which is also valued at $800 million. They begin suspecting Seo Myeong-ju is after the treasure for her own gain.
Back at school, Dong-min confides in Hae-seong, telling him a chilling horror story about the abandoned building. According to legend, a girl who dreamed of becoming a ballerina practiced there every night. Bullied by classmates, she had an accident that led her to lose her leg. Heartbroken, she took her own life, and her body was allegedly hidden by her classmates. Dong-min even shows Hae-seong a blurry video he recorded in the building, where something strange seems to emerge from the ground. Most intriguingly, the footage shows a door with a digital lock—suspicious for an old, abandoned building.

Later, when the bullies harass Dong-min again, Hae-seong can’t hold back and fights them. The conflict catches the attention of teacher O Su-a, who drags both Hae-seong and bully Park Tae-su to the council room. However, the vice president intervenes, taking Tae-su away because of his influential family connections. This unfairness reminds Hae-seong of his own school days and leaves him frustrated. He even scolds Su-a for turning a blind eye to the school’s problems.

As the fight footage reaches the NIS higher-ups, Hae-seong is warned that if he draws more attention, the entire undercover mission—and his team—will be at risk. During this time, we also learn that Hae-seong’s father, a former NIS officer, went missing, which is Hae-seong’s main motivation for joining the agency.
The episode ends on another thrilling cliffhanger. Hae-seong sneaks back into the abandoned building at night, only to be followed by Dong-min, who assumes he’s hunting for the ghost. Inside, they discover a man hammering something into the floor. When the man notices them, he throws the hammer and flees. Although Hae-seong can’t catch him, he finds a bloodstained cloth left behind. In a locked room protected by a digital lock, Hae-seong discovers walls covered with maps and newspaper clippings, hinting that even Seo Myeong-ju doesn’t know the treasure’s exact location. Meanwhile, Dong-min pries open a floorboard with the hammer—and finds a human skeleton underneath.
The final shot reveals a hidden CCTV camera capturing Hae-seong inside the locked room. Seo Myeong-ju is seen watching the footage, recognising his face.
Undercover High School Episode 2 Review
The Undercover High School Episode 2 takes a more serious turn, diving deep into the topic of bullying while still maintaining the action and suspense. The storyline is becoming more intense and intriguing, with layers of mystery and emotional depth.
Seo Kang-joon is absolutely killing it in his role. He fits the undercover high school student character perfectly—he doesn’t even look older than the other students, which really sells the concept. Jin Ki-joo’s portrayal of O Su-a adds a fun and chaotic vibe to the series. Her character stands out as she’s different from the typical teachers we see in school dramas.

While the romance hasn’t kicked off yet (we’re only two episodes in, after all), the chemistry is building nicely. My only concern is how the story will sustain its pace for 12 episodes. I mean, Hae-seong’s identity has almost been exposed three times already—by the teacher, his friend, and now through the chairwoman’s CCTV. It’s a bit surprising how an NIS agent did not consider the possibility of a hidden camera in a room with a digital lock!
Still, the plot is gripping, and I’m eager to see how the story unfolds next week. Will Hae-seong manage to stay undercover, or will the chairwoman make her move now that she knows who he is? I can’t wait to find out!
Undercover High School is now streaming on Viki.
