Did I-soo Really Kill Young-hwan?
Of course, it is not true that Jin I-soo killed Young-hwan. He was purposely framed to make him appear guilty of the murder. At first, Young-hwan and I-soo were friends; however, their friendship broke because I-soo was one of the people who put him in jail. Later on, he played on their former friendship and manipulated the situation to suit his needs. Young-hwan wanted to be an art dealer for Seong-won and tried to get help from him to escape the country.
After discovering that Young-hwan knew about his involvement in the plot, he decided to turn things around and use him as a part of his revenge plot against I-soo. Young-hwan drugged I-soo using something called Touch. It is at night when Young-hwan comes to visit I-soo, who is tired and weak in body. After getting the drug from contact with Young-hwan, I-soo loses consciousness and has no recollection of what follows. Pil-gu was hired to kill Young-hwan, so that the death of Young-hwan could be made to look like an act of I-soo killing him under the influence of drugs.
This plan worked almost perfectly, since traces of narcotics were found in I-soo’s blood, there was no sign of a second intruder, and a fake call about the murder was placed in I-soo’s name. However, in the end, Hye-ra manages to find evidence that a hooded person entered I-soo’s apartment after the latter’s return from work. The team later found out that I-soo was purposely drugged, and the call about the murder was a lie. It was Pil-gu who was the killer, and Seong-won who organised the whole thing.
What Really Happened to Min-jae?
Jeon Min-jae was killed as a result of getting too close to uncovering Seong-won’s secret. After Hye-ra realised that Seong-won was behind the disappearance of some people around him, she asked Min-jae to watch him. Min-jae finally found something strange about the behavior of Seong-won and started to follow him. Seong-won understood that he was being followed by Min-jae, and in order to take him down, he used A-reum as a lure. Seong-won knew that Min-jae would follow him to A-reum’s place, where Mr Hwang had already kept a taser for him.
Afterwards, Seong-won killed Min-jae in a very gruesome way. Unlike killing him directly, he slowly bled him to death while observing his expressions. Mr Hwang assisted him after this act by cleaning the bloody clothes and keeping the blood. After two days, the dead body of Min-jae was taken to Hye-ra in a box, making it hard for the team to have sufficient evidence connecting his murder to that of Seong-won. Hye-ra was devastated since she could not contact Min-jae. Eventually, video footage of a car near A-reum’s area, together with the fingerprint from Min-jae’s car, proved that Mr Hwang was involved in the murder as an accomplice to Seong-won.
Did I-soo Survive the Fire?
Yes, I-soo has managed to survive the fire. Resigning from the police force, he still helped Hye-ra look into the case of Seong-won, but from outside of it. Utilising hackers as well as information obtained by means of a listening device that he put into the handcuffs he provided to Tae-sun, I-soo found out that Seong-won was going to leave Korea. While Hye-ra, Jun-young and Kyung-jin were heading to the airport to detain him, I-soo entered Seong-won’s villa of Seong-won to look for some clues. There, he found a secret basement where photos, mannequins and other things related to his victims were kept.
Before I-soo could escape, however, an assistant to Tae-sun, Han Jong-hyeon, ambushed him. Despite being overpowered with a hammer by I-soo, Han Jong-hyeon came back and set fire to the basement where I-soo became unconscious. Fortunately for I-soo, Mr Park and the forensics team were able to find and rescue him before he suffocated in the basement and took him to the hospital. I-soo’s operation was successful, but he was still unconscious because of carbon monoxide poisoning. This does not mean that I-soo did not have another part in the murder case. Four hours before the confrontation, I-soo woke up and, together with Hye-ra, prepared the trap for Seong-won.
How Did Hye-ra and Team 1 Finally Arrest Seong-won?
Seong-won was first apprehended at the airport by Hye-ra and Team 1 upon the discovery made by I-soo about Seong-won’s intentions to flee the country. Nevertheless, this apprehension did not lead to anything, as the police could not find enough concrete evidence to keep him in prison. Seong-won was released and tried to evade the consequences of his criminal actions.
This turned out to be the key point after I-soo managed to survive the fire and come back to his senses. It seems like I-soo and Hye-ra decided to use their main enemy’s greatest weakness – his obsession with his own murders. Disguising herself as Tae-sun, Hye-ra lured Seong-won to the gallery. The former attacked and shot the latter, believing he had finally converted her into one of his victims in his art collection.
Afterwards, in Flex X Cop season 2 episode 14, I-soo came and provoked Seong-won by damaging his artistic creations while belittling the pieces he held so dear. It did not take long for Seong-won to become interested in explaining his creation and started talking about his victims as well as the manner in which he killed them. Seong-won was unaware that all these were planned so as to get a confession out of him. Moreover, I-soo had invited the foreign press and organised live streaming of the confrontation to ensure UBS would not be able to suppress the news.
What Happened to Seong-won in the End?
But Seong-won was revealed to be a serial killer. Even after he was arrested, he wasn’t fully convicted because he tried to lie and claimed that all the crimes were made up and just some stories he invented from his art. He was unrepentant and still thought that he would become famous because of all the attention he got.
But I-soo told him that this was not the way things were going to turn out. If he got imprisoned or admitted to a mental hospital, then he would lose contact with everyone else who was going to appreciate his artwork. Seong-won panicked for the first time in his life because he realised that the situation was getting out of control. At the ending of Flex X Cop season 2, evidence emerged from Seong-won’s own premises. While watching the CCTV footage, Kyung-jin realised that Seong-won often visited the backyard. After investigating the site, the forensic team found three buried bodies.
Such evidence enabled the police to directly connect Seong-won with the murders, thus proving that he was a serial killer. Moreover, the criminal cases related to Seong-won received international recognition as well since the British authorities started investigating the cases of missing people who had something to do with Seong-won. In addition, Seong-won’s mother, Tae-sun, was arrested due to Jong-hyeon’s video recording that caught her instructing her son to be murdered for her own safety. Thus, Seong-won concluded the season behind bars, with his world of crime, art and privileges falling apart.
What Happened to Team 1 in the End of Flex X Cop 2?
Team 1 experienced a serious crisis before they finally resolved the case. Once Mr Hwang passed away, Tae-gyun decided to suspend the team during the ongoing investigation. I-soo found out that Tae-gyun betrayed the team and revealed some of the details of the investigation to Tae-sun; because of this betrayal, the people from Seong-won’s side learned about the pursuit of Mr Hwang.
The only thing that I-soo could do at this point was to resign from the police and threaten Tae-gyun with the information he acquired in order to make him leave the other members of Team 1 alone. As soon as the investigation led to the arrest of Seong-won and the discovery of the hidden bodies, the efforts of Team 1 were noticed. Not only did the detectives receive recognition for their work during the investigation, but they were also praised for being a part of the revelation that Seong-won was a serial killer.
At the end of Flex X Cop Season 2, they were given a chance to go on vacation as a team. However, I-soo playfully refused to take the detectives anywhere abroad because detectives must always be nearby just in case there is a need for another investigation. Unfortunately, the vacation did not last long as Hye-ra abruptly ended it due to the arrival of a new case.
Will There Be a Flex X Cop Season 3?
It is quite evident that the ending of Flex X Cop 2 leaves some room for Season 3 of the show; however, there is no guarantee that a third season of this show will be produced. The strongest hint comes at the end, when, after the resolution of the Seong-won case, Team 1 celebrates their success, and the story ends with a sudden jump to the a bloody man played by Kim Ji-hoon walking inside a house where the walls are decorated with pictures of I-soo, Hye-ra, Jun-young and Kyung-jin.
Finally, the concluding scenes demonstrate that the detectives are far from simply closing the book on their investigation. Hye-ra gets a tip about another case and cuts their vacation short, putting Team 1 back to work again. Thus, in the context of the story, the door remains wide open for Flex X Cop 3.
