Lobby (로비) – April 2, 2025
Directed by Ha Jung-woo, Lobby will take viewers into the high-stakes world of corporate politics. The movie follows Chang Wook (Ha Jung-woo), a start-up CEO whose life has centred around research. But when he needs to win an enormous 4 trillion won (around $2.8 billion) government contract, he has to take on a whole new battle-hall, lobbyist golf. Starring Kim Eui-sung, Lee Dong-hwi, Park Byung-eun, Choi Si-won and Park Hae-soo in an ensemble cast, the film promises to mix biting satire with compelling drama.
Paran (파란) – April 9, 2025
What happens when the son of a criminal and the daughter of a victim cross paths? Paran, helmed by Kang Dong-in, is going to delve into the emotional baggage both characters seem to be burdened with as they try to find meaning in living. Lee Soo-hyuk plays Tae Hwa, a talented clay target shooter who grapples with the fact that his lung transplant was harvested from his father, a convicted felon. Meanwhile, Ha Yoon-kyung plays Mi Ji, a woman whose reckless behaviour emanates from the deep, painful scars of her past. Their unlikely bond sets off a path of self-discovery and healing.
Galatea (귀신들) – April 9, 2025
Galatea is a futuristic anthology film directed by Hwang Song-jae, and Science fiction fans have a lot to look forward to. Set in a future where humans and artificial intelligence co-exist, the film is a feature version of the award-winning short The Interviewees. The film consists of five interconnected narratives, exploring a range of AI integration into the human experience. From an AI impersonating a dead child to a virtual assistant struggling to pay off a perpetual mortgage, these inventive tales serve to explore the moral and emotional quandaries of an AI-enabled future. Starring SF9’s Chani, Lee Yo-won, Jung Kyung-ho and Lee Joo-shil, this movie seems set to touch on elements of suspense, mystery, and social commentary.
Yadang: The Snitch (야당) – 23 April 2025
Crime thrillers always bring an adrenaline rush, and Yadang: The Snitch promises to be no exception. Under the direction of Hwang Byung-kook, the film plunges into the dark side of South Korea’s drug trafficking. Lee Kang-soo, a broker known as “Yadang” who leaks information about drug criminals to the police, is played by Kang Ha-neul. But when ambitious prosecutor Gu Kwan-hee (played by Yoo Hae-jin) and relentless detective Oh Sang-jae (played by Park Hae-joon) come onto the scene, the three become embroiled in a deadly game of power. Expecting some intense performances and plot twists, this could be a game changer for crime drama lovers.
Holy Night: Demon Hunters (거룩한 밤: 데몬 헌터스) — April 30, 2025
Holy Night: Demon Hunters, an occult action thriller from director Im Dae-hee, closes out the month. The plot follows the “Holy Night” team — a team of elite fighters who hunt demons to protect the city from these dangerous creatures. Ma Dong-seok stars as the lead character Bau, a fighter celebrated for his raw, physical power. Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun stars as Sharon, an exorcist with the ability to identify demons, and Lee David plays Kim Gun, a central member of the team.
When a psychiatrist named Jung Won (Kyung Soo-jin) enlists their help in saving her possessed sister, the team has to embark on a gruelling mission to thwart a strong evil. Get ready for harrowing thrills and shivering supernatural elements in this dark thriller.
