Better Late Than Single Season 2 Episode 9-10 Review: Directed by Kim No-eun and Won Seung-jae, the Korean dating reality show has reached its finale, and it really shocked me. Hosted by Seo In-guk, Kang Han-na, Lee Eun-ji, and Car, the Garden, the Netflix Korean reality series features singles in search of their first love: Kim Jae-seo, Yoon Jeong-yoon, Jeon Seo-yoon, Choi Hyeon-seo, Lee Han-joo, Ahn Seung-hyeon, Choi Hyeok-joon, Kim Soo-hyeon, Han Su-ji, Ahn Jeong-eun, Lee Jin-woo, and Kim Tae-hoon.

Better Late Than Single Season 2 final leg starts with the dates being held in secret, providing each competitor with one final chance to reevaluate their feelings before making a final decision. Although a few competitors find themselves absolutely sure of their feelings, there are also those who just add more questions to their minds. Hyun-seo keeps attempting to decipher the ambiguous signals from Hyuk-joon, while Soo-hyun slowly comes to the realisation that what she thought was her developing romance with Tae-hoon might not actually have been as genuine as she once thought.
Better Late Than Single Season 2 Episode 9 is also the beginning of the end for a number of contestants. Tae-hoon, who has been using Soo-hyun into thinking that they have been heading towards something more serious through much of the season, suddenly starts backing away without giving any good reasons. Rather than just being honest about how he feels, he ends up leaving Soo-hyun confused when she needs someone to be the most sure of themselves. Thankfully, Seung-hyun comes through and provides her with the emotional support she needs.
In the meantime, Hyuk-joon finds himself entangled in the complex relationships around Hyun-seo. Even though there have been so many misconceptions between them, they slowly come to realise that they have never stopped picking each other. Jin-woo also finds himself at a turning point emotionally after he accepts that he is probably never going to win Jeong-eun’s heart. Therefore, he starts seriously considering Han-ju.
In Better Late Than Single Season 2 Episode 10, there is a shift to “Let It All Out Dates,” which gives everyone an opportunity to be themselves without any reservations. Hyuk-joon and Hyun-seo finally get to be themselves with each other, which was not possible in many episodes. They have some fun talks, have chemistry, and they seem very comfortable being themselves while expressing love. It feels rewarding seeing them reach a common goal after such a difficult journey.
The real shocker is Jin-woo and Han-ju. What looked like a second choice ends up being a surprisingly sweet prospect as Jin-woo learns to open up to someone who has always been open with him about how she feels. This couple might be the least likely one to end up together, but it’s still a positive ending for the series.
However, there will be those who do not get their happy endings. There are some participants who ultimately choose to stay alone rather than pursue a relationship that never really happened. Far from being disheartening, this is perhaps one of the most important lessons of the show.
The Better Late Than Single Season 2 finale is when it all comes together perfectly for me. There were times when I really wanted to shake the contestants just because they didn’t communicate effectively enough! At the same time, it was really rewarding to see how much more willing people became about discussing their feelings toward each other.
But the contestant who stuck around with me throughout the entire season was definitely Soo-hyun. Honestly speaking, it is such a shame that she did not get to be the last couple with Seung-hyun since there was a certain chemistry between them which could not be ignored. As far as I am concerned, they seemed like two people who were meant to meet but whose timings never quite matched.
Soo-hyun wasted all her energy trying to figure out the message that Tae-hoon was sending her, and by the time she got her closure, the season was coming to an end. If only she had gotten that closure a few days beforehand when Seung-hyun had already come to terms with his situation, everything would have turned out differently.
On the contrary, however, Tae-hoon turned out to be my most disappointing contestant in the finale. Refusal is not the problem here—everyone is free to make their own decisions—but the way he acted ruined the overall impression. Instead of being open about his feelings, he chose to keep things unclear for as long as possible, putting the burden of emotions on Soo-hyun, who was never at fault. Ultimately, his reluctance to answer questions straightforwardly spoiled his otherwise great image created throughout the season.
Fortunately, the ending of episode 10 of Better Late Than Single Season 2 had its own share of satisfactory parts too. Hyuk-joon and Hyun-seo seemed to connect perfectly when they stopped over-analysing everything between them. Even though my opinion about Hyuk-joon was quite conflicted during the whole season, I must admit there was progress shown during these two episodes. The final date they went on was really natural and sincere, and they appeared the most genuine couple that came out of the show. I also appreciated that Jin-woo decided to give Han-ju a shot rather than being fixated on an obviously wrong choice.
Maybe what fascinated me the most about Better Late Than Single Season 2 ending was the handling of vulnerability. Aside from the romantic element, it was the friendships that were formed between the participants that served as the emotional core of the show. They were always encouraging each other instead of being competitive, and quite a number of hard talks were conducted with unexpected maturity. This created an environment where it was easy to endure the heartbreaks since the ultimate triumph lay in self-improvement.
On the whole, Better Late Than Single Season 2 leaves me satisfied with the show’s ending. Everyone does not end up where people thought they would be, but that’s what gives authenticity to the show. Love does not always come at the expected time, and sometimes the best thing one could do is learn more about themselves. While there were some disappointing choices made, these episodes have certainly paid off emotionally.

Better Late Than Single Season 2 Final Couples were Hyuk-joon and Hyun-seo, who ended up making their choice after dealing with several weeks of misunderstandings and hesitation; on the other hand, Jin-woo and Han-ju stunned all of us when they left the reality show as a second possible couple. In the end, all of the other participants, including Soo-hyun, Seung-hyun, Tae-hoon, Su-ji, Jung-hyun, Jae-seo, Seo-yoon and Jeong-eun, left the show as singles.
