A Shop for Killers Season 2 Episode 5-6 Review: Directed by Lee Kwon, 킬러들의 쇼핑몰 시즌2 stars Lee Dong-wook as Jeong Jin-man and Kim Hye-jun as Jeong Ji-an. The action thriller also stars Jung Yun-ha as Kusanagi Jin, Hyunri as Q, Geum Hae-na as So Min-hye, Jo Han-sun as Bale, Lee Tae-young as Brother, Okada Masaki as J, and others. The K-drama is adapted from Kang Ji-young’s novel Sarinjaui Syopingmol.
A Shop for Killers Season 2 Episode 5 Recap
Episode 5 of A Shop for Killers season 2 starts off with Kusanagi giving Q some footage captured from J’s body camera, which seems to clearly show that Jin-man is the one who murdered J. As Q is sent back to Japan with the remains of her brother, the grief only fuels her intentions to get her revenge from Jin-man. On the other hand, Ji-an comes to life in the hospital and catches a glimpse of Jin-man before she passes out.
When she comes to her senses at last, Kim Jae-won gives her a fake identity card and tells her that Jin-man has gone to work. But in reality, Jin-man is lurking outside the room and listening to everything that is being said between them. Ji-an declines the offer for the fake identity card and recites the fabricated story to the cops. Once she goes back to Hanam-do, Ji-an visits the memorial of Woo-jin but cannot force herself into it. She starts crying when talking to Jeom-rye and says sorry about everything.
Jeom-rye consoles Ji-an and persuades her not to give up on life because of her guilt. Meanwhile, Q grieves for J in Japan and is planning to go back to South Korea and kill Jin-man. Finally, in A Shop for Killers 2 episode 5, Ji-an goes to the base of Murthehelp, where she finds Jin-man and also Min-hye, Jin-woo, Cheol-seung, and other members of the group. Their meeting does not seem to be comfortable, but Jin-man prepares a special room for Ji-an, which looks like their former house. Even though Jin-man assures Ji-an that there are no cameras there this time, it becomes clear later that he had previously placed one there, asking Brother to take it off.
However, as the threat posed by Babylon increases, Ji-an does not want to be someone who needs to be protected by others anymore. She approaches Ahn Seong-beom, one of the retired Code Reds who did not try to kill her back when it happened in Season 1. He declines her offer, but Ji-an tells him that Babylon keeps an eye on their retired staff members too. Ji-an trains herself together with the Murthehelp gang. She gets to learn combat skills, how to use firearms, the technology used by the shopping website, and what it takes to run an organisation.
Cheol-seung even gives her his lucky clover keychain, whereas Ji-an shows that she can take care of business affairs on her own. Afterwards, Ji-an takes part in the discussion between Murthehelp and Kusanagi, where she presents herself as the CEO of the company and proposes a partnership between Murthehelp and Babylon with one condition: Jin-man should stay alive. At the same time, Ji-an informs Kusanagi that there are some explosives surrounding the server and a device, which is connected to her body, can set them off when she dies.
The soldiers of Kusanagi find themselves surrounded by the Code Reds, who finally decide to help Ji-an. With the assistance of Jin-man and Seong-beom, Ji-an persuades Kusanagi to agree to the terms. Afterwards, all of them have a celebration. Ji-an decides to make Code Blue for transportation and delivery and rename the main group to Code Green because they became a family.
Nonetheless, at the end of A Shop for Killers season 2 ep 5, their win is short-lived because Jin-man gets a call from Pasin stating that he had been captured. At the end of the episode, it becomes evident that the negotiations were but part of a larger scheme when Pasin is seen bound and tortured by Kusanagi.
A Shop for Killers Season 2 Episode 6 Recap
A Shop for Killers Season 2 Episode 6 takes us back a month to Thailand, where Pasin is remembering his dead wife with his son, Atti. However, their peace is broken by the arrival of mercenaries at their house, and in order to save Atti, Pasin has no choice but to give in. Back in the present time, Jin-man gives Ji-an the messages he received from Murthehelp’s mole at Babylon. Jin-man tells the mole that he is going to Thailand and wants him to give information on who kidnapped Pasin and Atti’s location. Before leaving, Jin-man reminds Ji-an of his hard but practical advice: if she loses one arm, she must think of the safety of the other.
Pursuing the clues left behind by Pasin, Jin-man comes across a device which helps him reach the internet cafe, but he gets tailed. He is attacked by a gang wielding swords, but Jin-man manages to beat them up, but then later gets electrocuted and knocked out. In South Korea, the wounded Pasin suddenly shows up in Murthehelp. In this episode, we learn about how Kusanagi had him tortured and blackmailed him with Atti. She shot Pasin and secretly planted a tracking device in him so as to use him as a tool for Babylon’s scheme.
Upon waking up, Pasin informs his team about a call made by Jin-man telling him to come back to South Korea. However, during his tour at the new Murthehelp base together with Jin-woo, he meets with an employee of the warehouse, who gives him a secret package. The package includes a necklace that contains a camera so that Babylon can analyse the structure of the building and its security system. On the other hand, in Episode 6 of A Shop for Killers Season 2, Jin-man awakens chained in an underground room. His captor is revealed to be Jo Seong-gu, the leader of one of the teams from Babylon that was sent to Thailand after the events of the first season.
He frees himself, overcomes Seong-gu’s men, makes him tell him about Atti’s whereabouts and flees into the forest. However, Pasin makes sure to verify the mole’s address, sending Min-hye along with him. This is a trap as Pasin shows up in a truck, driving Min-hye’s car towards the bridge. She resists, but Pasin shoots her, making her fall into the water. On the other hand, Ji-an identifies a suspicious element from the mole’s recent messages. Upon further analysis, the team realises that Babylon has found out their informant, who has given them a coded message that indicates that Pasin is possibly an agent for the enemy.
Upon returning to Murthehelp, Pasin strikes at Ji-an and injects her with some kind of chemical. Cheol-seung comes to the rescue, enabling Ji-an to inject the antidote and become immune to its effects. After knocking out Cheol-seung, Pasin plugs in some kind of device that gives access to Babylon and enables the latter to take control and turn off the operations at Murthehelp.
Ji-an tries to help Brother, but Pasin finds them and shoots Brother in the leg and ties up Ji-an. When Babylon gets ready to take control of the company, Kusanagi orders Q to kill Pasin once Ji-an is captured. A Shop for Killers Season 2 ep 6 concludes with yet another surprising scene, where Kusanagi shakes hands with Seong-beom.
A Shop for Killers Season 2 Episode 5-6 Review
This week’s A Shop for Killers Season 2 episodes are yet another proof that the show has the right formula for how to make things work. Episode 5 finally lets Ji-an show what she is capable of, taking her out of the shadow of Jin-man. Seeing Ji-an in action in the scene where she takes control of the Murthehelp feels like a huge milestone for the character. Her discussion with Kusanagi is easily among the best in the episode, particularly because Ji-an shows that she is far from a character who would silently accept protection from others.
Ji-an’s emotional growth is another interesting part, especially after what happened to Woo-jin. The interaction between Ji-an and Jeom-rye tugs at heartstrings, while Min-hye’s talk with Ji-an gives this episode a gentler tone. Ji-an might never be able to live the regular life she yearned for before, but the people at Murthehelp have now started acting like her very own family. Kim Hye-jun successfully portrays both the sorrow and the newfound self-confidence of Ji-an without making her development seem abrupt.
Episode 6 strips the viewer of the relief provided in the previous episode at once. While it seems that Murthehelp has managed to get hold of Babylon, Kusanagi manages to exploit one of their own to bring about this trouble. Pasin’s case is particularly heart-wrenching since he does not betray his team just for his own sake. But the pressure exerted on Atti forces him to make this choice, and seeing how he attacks Ji-an and turns against those who trusted him makes this whole case even tougher to watch.
Lee Dong-Wook displays Jin-Man’s ruthless nature in these episodes. The escape process of Jin-Man from Thailand is very harsh, yet it illustrates how desperate he can be when his loved ones are threatened. Jin-woo, Cheol-seung, and Brother further ensure that Murthehelp is not only an organisation by adding emotions in the group. The loyalty of Ji-an’s friends to each other and to her makes the assault on their base all the more threatening.
The last few minutes are packed full of problems. Ji-an is captured, Brother is hurt, Murthehelp’s network is shut down, and Min-hye’s whereabouts are unknown. The meeting between Kusanagi and Seong-beom makes things even more confusing because you cannot be sure of anyone anymore.
A Shop for Killers Season 2 Episodes 5 and 6 are another two bangers, containing great character development scenes with plenty of action and suspense, making it impossible to guess what will happen in the future episodes. Since Murthehelp is crumbling from within, it will be interesting to watch Ji-an and her team make their comeback.
