Why Did Tae-seo and Mo Eun-a Break Up for the Second Time?
In the second break-up, it was not any mistake committed by either of them that caused the breakup. Rather, what was responsible for it was the result of mental tiredness and bad timing. In the story, at this particular time, Tae-seo is already under great stress brought about by different aspects, including the health problem faced by his grandmother, how vulnerable his little brother is and his desire to protect his family.
In the middle of all the struggles he is going through, he finds comfort in Eun-a. However, upon arriving at the guesthouse, he witnesses an image that makes him think Eun-a was having an intimate affair with Seong-chan. In deciding to move to Hawaii, Eun-a’s desire to have a new beginning is clear. In the wake of all she’s experienced – from losing her father to the complex interactions with So-hyeon, as well as being repeatedly hurt by Tae-seo- Eun-a comes to a state where continuing in her current situation is too much to bear anymore. There’s no place left for her to run to that isn’t connected to something from which she cannot escape.

Tae-seo decides to stay in Seoul and become a train driver, handling matters relating to his family and Eun-a’s history, like looking after her father’s house. What Does the Ending of Still Shining Truly Signify?
The ending of Still Shining is rather about acceptance than about closure. This implies that some love stories can never end the way one hopes to, which is happily ever after, but still, their love remains intact regardless of the physical distance between the two characters.
