Positively Yours Episode 1-2 Review: Based on the popular webtoon 아기가 생겼어요 by Lee Jeong, this drama is directed by Kim Jin-seong, starring Choi Jin-hyuk as Kang Doo-joon and Oh Yeon-seo as Jang Hee-won, supported by Hong Jong-hyun, Kim Da-som, Kim Ki-doo, Son Byung-ho and other familiar faces. The series is projected to last for 12 episodes and will explore the themes of comedy, romance, responsibility, and unexpected life events while maintaining a balance between emotional depth and light-hearted moments.
Positively Yours Episode 1 Recap
Episode 1 of Positively Yours hits the viewers with a jolt when Hee-won opens her eyes next to a nude man she can barely recall meeting. Dazed and flushed, she hastily tries to figure out how a one-night affair had such wild repercussions. By the time her half-remembered stories are back, the narrative rewinds to an upscale party where Hee-won was working as a friend’s replacement and fate marked the encounter between her and Kang Doo-joon.

Hee-won, at the party, blindly declared Doo-joon as her boyfriend in order to prevent an awkward interaction, bringing a complete stranger into her falsehood. The very moment the two met was full of awkwardness, and the guy was clearly miffed by the situation. Yet the plot quietly uncovers that both of them possess similar negative views on matrimony, stemming from their painful pasts respectively.
Hee-won’s daily life consists of working in a production team at a beer company, where she ironically turns out to be the reason for her boss’s resentment due to her being more able. She emotionally depends on Min-wook, her longtime friend, whom she secretly loves, but is unfortunately stunned when she finds out that he is dating another girl who is also a close friend. As if it’s not enough, fate plays a prank on her when a car driven by Doo-joon flags her down and hands her money instead of making an apology.

Once more, the two meet at another company party, where the tension finally dissipates and turns into a real chat. Drinking beer and expressing their frustrations, the two become good friends and get even closer with laughter and alcohol. A careless night later, they find themselves in bed together. Morning catches them off guard, especially Hee-won, who runs away in shame and even forgets to take the money, thus unintentionally making the scene hilarious.
The episode makes a dramatic pivot when Hee-won discovers that she is pregnant. What started off as a silly lie and a drunken encounter now leads to life-changing consequences. The Positively Yours episode 1 wraps up with this surprising revelation, changing the genre of the drama from a romantic comedy to an emotionally charged trip.

Positively Yours Episode 2 Recap
Positively Yours episode 2 goes off in a surprising direction with a proposal. Doo-joon, fueled by his sense of duty and not love, proposes to Hee-won. The latter, on her part, very decisively turns down the marriage proposal, prompting him to first think very well about his final choice. The contrast between Hee-won, who continues to be the rational and cautious character, and Doo-joon, whose feelings for her are becoming more and more obvious, is very noticeable in this episode.

At the same time, this episode also reveals some of the complexities surrounding Doo-joon’s family dynamic. His brother’s wife plays up the part of a nice person when she talks to Hee-won, while at the same time indirectly telling her to have an abortion. Eventually, she reveals her real intention; she does not like Doo-joon and holds him responsible for her partner’s unfortunate death. Flashbacks show that there was a great affection between Doo-joon and his brother before an unexpected incident shattered their bond. The death of his brother also, albeit indirectly, affected him emotionally.

Hee-won gets another shocking oscillator effect when she is informed that her application for the position in Germany – a dream she has cherished for a long time – has been approved. Now that she is pregnant, the woman is caught in a triangle of conflict between her aspirations and the fact that she has to raise a child. She thinks of doing it alone, but at the same time is afraid of the emotional drain and time consumption that it would cause her.
This time around, Destiny Rewind and Hee-won and Doo-joon run into each other at work by coincidence, making it necessary for them to have a private talk about their situation. The young man proposes a contractual marriage for the baby’s sake, yet Hee-won says no, as she is just not prepared to be a part of a loveless setup. Even as they act as if they do not know each other in public, the intensity of Doo-joon’s love just keeps on growing.

The tone of the episode gets heavier when Hee-won drops in on her mother, who reacts to the pregnancy with a mixture of freezing and brutal behaviour. Clarifying her situation, Hee-won goes to a gynaecologist and receives the shocking news that it was indeed very hard for her to get pregnant; hence, this current pregnancy can only be described as a miracle. The last scene of Episode 2 of Positively Yours is ambiguous, so the audience is left wondering whether Hee-won is going to keep the baby or give up everything she has ever planned.
Positively Yours Episode 1-2 Review
Positively Yours kdrama not only knows but also takes and uses to its advantage the fact that it is a romantic comedy that depicts chaos, bad timing, and adult decisions of questionable nature, among other things. The first and second episodes set up a story that is not only familiar but also compelling at the same time: one innocent lie, one drunken night, and, as a result, two strangers are inconveniently connected for the longest time. Rather than complicating matters from the very beginning, the drama lights up its initial beats with humour, awkwardness, and just the right amount of emotional heft to keep the audience captivated.

Hee-won, the protagonist, is a quintessential romantic comedy female lead with a contemporary twist. She performs well at work, is always unlucky in love, and, of course, is always surrounded by people who tend to make her life unnecessarily hard. The way she deals with the pregnancy is not through loud cries and dramatic breakdowns but rather through a mixture of internal panics, sarcastic thoughts, and silent fear, which keeps the atmosphere light even when it is serious.
The character of Doo-joon is a typical male lead who is emotionally closed off, but the drama does not make him unfeeling for the sake of it. His honesty, clumsy proposals, and total lack of romantic subtlety are more often than not played for laughs and not for angst in these early episodes.

One of the main reasons behind the success of Positively Yours episodes 1 and 2 is the effect of the chemistry that is built through discomfort. Their relations are characterised by misunderstandings, awkward dialogues, and unintentional intimacy, which allow the comic part of the story to drain out more easily. The proposal of a married couple under contract, keeping a secret at work, and constantly running into each other seems to be much too cliché, but at the same time, they are presented in such a way that the audience knows the plot the drama is going to follow. This is a show that requires you to have fun with the chaos before anything is sorted out.
Episodes 1 and 2 of Positively Yours gave us the rom-com entry that is hilarious without being ridiculous, touching without becoming overpowering, and clichéd without appearing to be copying. With the premise set, the major expectation is now to see these two emotionally stubborn grown-ups blunder into a relationship that is real, messy, and unexpectedly sweet as the series progresses.
