Our Universe Ending Explained: Directed by Lee Hyeon Seok and Jung Yeo Jin,우주를 줄게 tells a heartwarming story of love and what it means to be a family. The lead roles are played by Bae In-hyuk as Sun Tae-hyung, Roh Jeong-eui as Woo Hyun-jin, Park Seo-ham as Park Yoon-seong, and Park Yu-ho as the young and innocent Sun Woo-joo. The show is a 12-episode ride that follows an unlikely group as they try to put their lives back together after a tragedy.
I watched it primarily because of the young actor, and I must say that Park Yu-ho is amazing as Woo-joo. He is instantly lovable as Woo-joo, making him the centre of the show as the adults try to provide a family for him.
Korean drama Our Universe is a story of two people who are bound by a shocking tragedy that shakes all that they know. Woo Hyun-jin is a hardworking career woman who is trying to get her life in order, while Sun Tae-hyung is a photographer with emotional wounds from the past. A tragedy befalls them, and they are left to raise a child, Woo-joo, who has lost the people they loved.

Why Did Woo-jin Abandon Tae-hyung?
For most of his life, Tae-hyung thought that his older brother Woo-jin had abandoned him at the orphanage and never looked back. And he carried that with a grudge. And he carried that grudge even when fate brought them together again as adults. But when their father, Sun Gyu-tae, gets taken into custody, the truth about the past comes out through a police acquaintance of Woo-jin. It turns out that when they were kids, their father’s failed business venture sent him into a violent and alcoholic spiral.
Woo-jin saw what kind of danger Tae-hyung was in from their father and chose the harder path. He put Tae-hyung into an orphanage and stayed behind himself to endure the abuse and to gather evidence against their father.
Tae-hyung now understands that his brother had been watching from the sidelines all these years, gathering files and photographs of Tae-hyung as he grew up. He now understands that the brother he resented and carried a grudge against all these years stayed behind and endured the abuse so that Tae-hyung might have a chance at something better. And in the midst of all these revelations, the brother he had just forgiven through his confession is not there to hear it. But in the moment of truth and acceptance of the truth about his brother, Tae-hyung forgives him and comes to realise the brotherly love that had always tied him to his brother.
Was Tae-hyung Really Leaving the Country?
However, the whole confusion starts from the fact that someone overheard Tae-hyung talking about a manager who is planning to go to the United States. From there on, everything goes awry, and people assume that Tae-hyung is leaving the country. As soon as Hyun-jin learns that Tae-hyung is leaving the country, she is with Yoon-seong, and this information hits her like a thunderbolt. She understands how much she needs him and rushes to the airport through the rain to reach him before he leaves.
She finds him at the airport and begs him not to leave. She is filled with emotion and confesses that she has missed him and is expressing her true feelings. She is so overwhelmed that she kisses him to distract him from leaving. Tae-hyung kisses her back and confesses that he has been feeling the same. Instead of leaving on a flight, he decides to stay with her, and this is where the actual romance starts.
Were Hyun-jin and Tae-hyung Able to Become the Legal Guardians of Woo-joo?
Hyun-jin and Tae-hyung go through a tough and draining process of trying to become Woo-joo’s legal guardians. To begin with, they are subjected to a tough time as they are questioned about their ability to raise Woo-joo. However, they are hopeful of a second interview in which they are required to prove that they have created a conducive environment for Woo-joo.
However, their hopes are dashed when they encounter a problem during the inspection period. In Our Universe episode 12, Hyun-jin is busy looking for medicine for Woo-joo when the latter gets lost and injures himself. The investigator gets the wrong impression that Woo-joo has undergone some kind of abuse. This leads to Woo-joo being taken away from Hyun-jin and Tae-hyung. However, Hyun-jin and Tae-hyung are not deterred from their goal. They garner a lot of support from the community and from people such as Yoon-seong. This shows how much they care about Woo-joo. Eventually, Woo-joo is returned to Hyun-jin and Tae-hyung, who become his official guardians.
What Happened to Yoon-seong at the End of Our Universe?
Throughout the series, Yoon-seong becomes aware that he is in competition with Hyun-jin for the affection of Tae-hyung. As her team leader and her first love, he truly cares for her and holds on to the hope that they might reconnect. He spends time with her and supports her career. He also offers to be around her and Woo-joo. However, as the story progresses, it becomes more and more apparent that the heart of Hyun-jin belongs to Tae-hyung. So, as she finally confides in him that she loves Tae-hyung, Yoon-seong’s reaction is perfectly understandable.
Despite the rejection that Yoon-seong feels from the situation, he takes it well. Instead of creating trouble and being immature about it, Yoon-seong takes the rejection well and steps out with dignity. What is important to consider is that Yoon-seong stands by Hyun-jin’s side as she and Tae-hyung get into trouble due to the investigation into the guardianship of Woo-joo. By offering to write a report as a third party that will show that Hyun-jin and Tae-hyung are capable of raising Woo-joo, it becomes apparent that Yoon-seong is on their side.
Did Hyun-jin and Tae-hyung Get Their Happy Ending?
At the end of Our Universe kdrama, they are able to work through all of the confusion and pain that they have been through. They are able to open up about their relationship. After getting through all of the misunderstandings that took place at the airport, they are able to start a relationship openly and begin a new life with Woo-joo.
This was their greatest challenge, but it is also where they realise just how much they care for each other and, most importantly, for Woo-joo. Finally, when Woo-joo returns, they are convinced that they have passed through the worst of it. The ending of Our Universe brings all of them together, the three of them, and the happy group of neighbours and friends who have been a part of their journey so far. Tae-hyung declares his unwavering love and thanks to Hyun-jin and Woo-joo, and the sense of a happy, secure home for his little family is complete.
