After weeks of speculation and countless fan theories, j-hope MONA LISA MV has dropped! This marks his second digital single since returning from military service, and only two weeks after Sweet Dreams. Directed by Lumpens’ Yongseok, the music video is a stunning visual, with sleek choreography mixed with Hoseok’s signature charm.
The song is a blend of hip-hop and R&B, and it’s one sultry vibe. With this song, he compares his love interest to Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece in a way so vivid, that it’s clear that in his world, beauty and beauty are one. The song’s catchy, it’s cool and to be real, it’s just fun to listen to. But let’s get to the details — because I’ve got a lot to say!
j-hope MONA LISA MV Review
From the very first listen, MONA LISA by j-hope — immediately catches your ear. The beat is smooth, the flow is effortless and the lyrics are playful. Lines such as, “I like my girls pretty so fine / One plus the nine” might not seem profound at first, but they go with the song’s stylish and self-possessed character. He’s essentially saying he loves a woman who’s both beautiful and independent—who glows like a piece of artwork.

I thought it was a really vibey song; it’s super easy to vibe to. It’s not too complicated, and that’s precisely what makes it so fun. But my biggest complaint? It’s too short! At only 2 minutes and 45 seconds long, it seems to end right as you’re getting into it. I really wish there was another verse or even a bigger bridge to keep the energy going.
So yes, if you are a fan of seeing j-hope dance, then j-hope MONA LISA MV is all of your dreams come true. Rather than an elaborate stage set or complicated narrative, the entire video plays out in what appears to be a museum-style setting, keeping it simple and classy. And frankly, that’s all it needed — because the dance moves of this boy, j-hope, are plenty to keep your eyes glued.

He snaps every movement and smooths them all out, and the way he plays with the beat is simply tremendous.” It’s obvious this was written for him to flex. If there’s one thing I respect about j-hope, it’s how the hardest choreography looks easy on him. You can see he’s absolutely in his wheelhouse here.
What makes Jung Hoseok MONA LISA so special, though, is its emotion. That’s why the song is also special because j-hope said that he considered his fans a masterpiece like Mona Lisa. In fact, he even performed it live for the first time at his HOPE ON THE STAGE concert in New York, and from what we hear, fans are loving it.

Overall, j-hope MONA LISA MV is short yet extremely catchy. The song is slick and stylish, the dance is next level and, overall, the vibe is effortlessly cool. My only complaint is the length — I wanted more! Yet even so, it’s still a great track that highlights j-hope’s sound perfectly. If you are a listener of BTS j-hope, you’ll enjoy this. If only for choreographic bliss and a truly sticky beat, you’ll likely be looping it as well. Regardless, MONA LISA by j-hope is one to listen to!
