Dream to You Ending Explained
Why Did Ju Yi-jae and Woo Soo-bin Break Up?
When the two become a couple and finish making their film, Yi-jae and Soo-bin experience another dilemma as Yi-jae comes to realise that she wants to learn about film. While making their film, she experiences insecurity as she is not formally trained in film and begins doubting if she has what it takes to become a director. Yi-jae then applies for a film fellowship program in Canada, although Soo-bin is unable to accept Yi-jae’s move since their relationship and films together represent his dreams.
Soo-bin becomes sad and hurt upon learning about Yi-jae’s application without consulting him, especially after he discovers that she had not even read his new script for them. But Yi-jae knows this is precisely the point where she has to make a new decision that would differ from what she made back in their youth. She loves Soo-bin, but she does not want her whole life to be about the relationship with him and their dreams. In their argument, she lets him know clearly that while he is somebody whom she loves, he is not her dream.
This time, she chooses herself and moves to Canada to build her identity as a filmmaker. At first, Soo-bin finds it hard to accept the separation, but he eventually realises that trying to hold Yi-jae back would mean hindering his own dream. Yi-jae gets selected for the fellowship, and they mutually agree to separate.

Why Didn’t Soo-bin Stop Yi-jae From Leaving for Canada?
Soo-bin doesn’t prevent Yi-jae from leaving because, although he loves her with all his heart, at the end of the day, he comes to terms with the fact that it is Yi-jae’s dream that she should choose this time around. However, once Soo-bin finds out that she is really leaving, he can no longer let her go. In Dream to You episode 12, he rushes to the airport where he intends to stop her for one last time in order to beg her not to leave. When he gets to the airport, Yi-jae is already long gone, leaving her scrunchie on the floor.
This automatically brings back memories of the event that occurred several years ago when Yi-jae chased him in an attempt to catch him and suffered the near-fatal accident. Soo-bin painfully comes to terms with the fact that, due to his actions, he became both the cause of his nearly losing his life and the reason why the dream that they once had together disappeared. At this particular point, Soo-bin is well aware that attempting to hold back Yi-jae once more is the same old error that will happen all over again.

It is not easy for him to ask her to forfeit yet another chance for his sake, knowing the importance of her dream to her. Therefore, despite all his efforts to follow her, Soo-bin decides to let go of Yi-jae and finally gives her the freedom to pursue her dream on her own terms.
Did Yi-jae Finally Achieve Her Dream?
In the ending of Dream to You, Yi-jae gets to realise her dream of being a filmmaker; what is more important, she accomplishes this goal not by means of a chance encounter with Soo-bin. The heroine is able to make a tough choice – to go abroad and study at the fellowship for filmmakers in Canada. There she becomes successful and stays for two years.
When Yi-jae comes back home, she is no longer an insecure young woman who used to think that without Soo-bin she could not realise her dream either. The woman gets professional recognition for her talents and wins the Rising Director Award at the 16th Geumseong Film Festival. Ultimately, this story demonstrates that Yi-jae’s dream was not limited to the film she and Soo-bin made up when they were young; it was also about being a director herself.

Do Seo In-wook and Sa-rang End Up Together?
The relationship between In-wook and Sa-rang that started with a one-night stand turns into an issue after Sa-rang discovers that dating In-wook means more to her than she thought. She stops the relationship because she feels guilty about everything that happened and thinks she needs time alone to determine what she really wants in life. But since In-wook has fallen in love with her, it is hard for him as well.
In Dream to You episode 12,their final encounter presents yet another opportunity for them to reunite without making it clear whether they are now together or not. In-wook finds Sa-rang’s books in the library, where he buys all of them, thus clearing the entire shelf. He then ends up running into her later on when she is promoting her latest book about love. Unlike before, there are no hard feelings between them; they are just glad to see each other again. This is why the series ends there, with Soo-bin even going as far as calling it an open ending. Consequently, their reunion does not mean that In-wook and Sa-rang are now together again.

Do Yu-geon and Oh Ha-na Get Their Happy Ending?
Yes, Yu-geon and Oh Ha-na end up happily ever after and stay together. The two grow up from the initial awkwardness in their relationship to forming a true bond. Ha-na was raised by her controlling mother for most of her life, whereas Yu-geon had to work hard to make a name for himself as an actor. The two’s relationship proves especially vital as it encourages each to do what he or she really wants and not let others decide what their future would be like.
Despite the scandal involving Ha-na’s family, which puts her career at risk, Yu-geon stays with her and gives her a place to live. Even after the revelation of their relationship through the movie and Soo-bin’s family, their connection is sustained. Ha-na finally gets to introduce herself as Yu-geon’s girlfriend to his dad, Sim-sin, and he gets an opportunity to see that his son has found himself a woman whom he truly loves.

They keep seeing each other even after the media coverage of their relationship. While Su-hee is not happy with their relationship, she can no longer control what Ha-na decides to do. At the end of Dream to You, we get to see that Yu-geon and Ha-na remain together, showing that they managed to build a relationship of their own free will.
Do Yi-jae and Soo-bin Get Back Together at the End of Dream to You?
Indeed, Yi-jae and Soo-bin do reunite, but this reunion takes place only when they realise that being in love doesn’t mean giving up on their individual aspirations. They are away from each other for two years without ever making any contact with one another. However, this time apart was actually what they required. Upon coming back to Korea as a successful director, rather than returning to Soo-bin as she requires him, he comes back as an equal who has made his name in the industry.

Yi-jae tries to work with him through the script in the same concept as the one which he had proposed to her before, and Soo-bin readily accepts it. The professional relationship between them leads back to their love story, and the conclusion proves that they are back together. The next morning after sleeping together, at the end of Dream to You, Soo-bin gives a couple’s ring to Yi-jae and says that she is the dream of his life. This time around, Yi-jae accepts the ring because she has finally realised her dream and can now have a life with him.
