Right Place, Wrong Person by RM is not an album; it is so much more than that; it’s an experience. Each track can be seen as a genuine search for art and cinema which all can be sensed as Namjoon’s muse. Starting from Come back to me to credit roll each of the songs which RM has sung has a special message and an essence of his love for music. His album allows this listener to see the truer and more mature Kim Namjoon at work and his transformation as an artist. It is assuredly one of the most impressive pieces created in 2024 and it naturally holds an irreplaceable position.
Rosie by ROSÉ
ROSÉ’s latest album Rosie outperformed all other albums with the singer delightfully able to pour out her soul into the music. Every song is unique, but ones like Number One Girl and Toxic Till The End are provocative telling stories of the loss and acceptance of love. Meanwhile APT with Bruno Mars sounds energetic and catchy the kind of song that it would be impossible not to groove to. Thanks to this album, listeners can feel much more than just netizens of BLACKPINK; they can feel the genuine side of an artist, ROSÉ.
Armageddon by aespa
aespa came through this year with Armageddon, an album that shows exactly the heat and range in this girl group. Everything from Long Chat and Prologue which appears to be based on easy listening rhythm and blues through to the full blown attacks of Set The Tone and Armageddon the title track. The girls’ vocal versatility on Full narration section” shines through and makes everything better. This release makes aespa one of the more exciting groups that K-pop has to offer in today’s generation.
MUSE by Jimin
Jimin’s MUSE is a complete transformation at its best. Moving away from the FACE concept, this album, consists Park Jimin’s artistic development as a singer to new forms of vocal skills, enriched with complex lyrics. The likes of WHO and Rebirth (Intro) are typical examples of the kind of genre he does, and his supple voice takes the listener on the ride they cannot predict. He went on to recreate how he represents his artistry, this is why BTS is still dominating the international music scene even during their break.
The Winning by IU
Although varied in the specific genres present, IU’s The Winning shows great teamwork on an album level. It comes as no surprise that with five distinct songs the narrative unfolds as one entire piece of work, if played sequentially. Among all the songs the most impressive one is the song Shh which embodies both the sweetness of IU and experiment with jazz tunes. Once again, IU proves with this brand-new EP why she is one of the few artists today who can create a generation less tune.
17 Is Right Here by SEVENTEEN
SEVENTEEN did not disappoint with 17 Is Right Here. Usually, this group demonstrates versatility, singing rap-attacking, slow love songs, and catchy fight songs in one album. Songs are memorable parts; the hip-hop unit’s Lalali, and the title track Maestro are just brilliant. The music truly seems like SEVENTEEN’s attempt at documenting an experience – one which makes the album enjoyable for casual and die-hard fans alike.
Golden Hour: Part 1 by ATEEZ
ATEEZ’s Golden Hour: Part 1 can be considered as somewhat softer music suddenly, more often it’s easier to label as ‘playful’ and ‘easy listening’. Speaking of the records, I liked Blind, Shaboom, and Siren particularly; however, Mingi’s rap in Siren caught my attention. That is why this album is so impressive: it shows that ATEEZ can play it safe and blue themselves while still delivering a great album with tracks that are either catchy rock songs or pierce one’s ears.
ATE by Stray Kids
For 2024, the Stray Kids guys maintained the ATE factor going for them. This album is full of energy and has their stunning style, with which they are famous for. Chk Chk Boom is one of their best title tracks, JJAM and ‘Stray Kids’ just prove how versatile they are. It just give the listeners the impression that the album is boasting of their accomplishments and milestones of the performers.
Happy by Jin
At first when I heard the title Happy I was wondering why he gave it such a simple name as an album compared to the other members ‘ more unique title for their albums. But, after listening to the whole album, it rose to my realization, Happy indeed embodies the soul of the song, which is like a warm embrace that gave me that giddy feeling. Jin is truly the brightest of the BTS members here. That’s why I thought Jin has a magic voice that has not been paid enough attention to, and now is the time with his solo album. It is just a warm love hug and I am sure every fan out there will definitely love it.
Seokjin’s Happy is all about giving his fans something they hardly ever get, touching melodies that makes people feel warm inside. These songs like Heart on the Window with Wendy of Red Velvet or Running Wild or even the extremely emotional I’ll Come to You just feel like a blessing. The fans should know that Jin values ARMY the most and his musical abilities are much greater than we know.
