Spring Fever Korean drama, follows Yoon Bom. Did Seon Jae-gyu Really Kill His Father? What Happened That Night?
Across the entire series, Jae-gyu is shown to be overwhelmed by his guilt for the fire that burned down his childhood home and caused the death of his father. Gossip that he possibly allowed his father to die has convinced Jae-gyu that he has committed an irreparable sin in such a way that he doesn’t want to feel any joy or to receive any affection or to make sacrifices of any type as a result of the guilt he carries.
The complete truth about the situation emerges in Episode 11 of Spring Fever. Jae-gyu explain the events of the fire as follows: when the fire spread so quickly, he had only a matter of seconds to reach out to help his father because of the way that he acted in a violent manner and created a chaotic atmosphere; therefore, he made the decision to go to the aid of the infant Han-gyul who was in an unsolvable situation rather than to help his father, ultimately leading to the death of his father because the house was completely destroyed by fire.
What has been shared throughout the entire series is that Jae-gyu did not kill his father; however, Jae-gyu made a tragic decision, out of moral necessity, in a life-or-death moment. Han-gyul thinks that by voluntarily decreasing his grades it will help her achieve being the top student. However, Se-jin views Han-gyul’s actions as pity for her and that he does not think she is talented. He treats her like a dependent person rather than as an equal.
This misunderstanding creates barriers to forming emotional connections between the two of them. Se-jin wants to succeed on her own without needing help from anyone, including Han-gyul. She wants him to view her as an equal competitor rather than someone he must protect. The conversation that occurred between Han-gyul and Jae-gyu was emotional for both of them, and Jae-gyu provided encouragement until Han-gyul realised that in order to truly respect someone, he must have faith in their capabilities. He apologises and promises to participate in fair competition.
At the end of Spring Fever, Se-jin achieves victory over Han-gyul through fair competition, which leads her to win first place through her own achievements. Han-gyul experiences both jealousy and pride because these emotions represent typical feelings that teenagers experience. Their relationship develops through this dispute, which demonstrates that love requires active support instead of silent self-sacrifice.

Did Jae-gyu and Bom Get Their Happy Ever After?
Following Bom and Jae-gyu’s separation after her return to Seoul, they experience both physical and emotional longing for one another. However, they also continue with their respective lives, working on their healing process and growing. In addition, Jae-gyu has come to realise how much he has emotionally grown and confronts Han-gyul’s mother, letting her know she needs to stop supporting him only from a distance and to show him true love and support by joining him on his journey.
One year later, after opening the present Jae-gyu gave her, Bom’s feelings for Jae-gyu erupt, and she cannot contain herself any longer. She runs to Jae-gyu at the beach, where he explains to her how she has given him the courage to embrace who he is, and he no longer wants to hide his scars. Together, they are showing acceptance of their past wounds instead of hiding from them.
Jae-gyu proposes to Bom with a diamond ring, and she says yes. The Spring Fever ends with them finishing their story with a kiss at the ocean, not only with love for one another, but also with mutual healing, courage, and the ability to choose to be happy regardless of fear. Jae-gyu and Bom get their happily ever after.
