Undercover High School Episode 3 Recap

Following the shocking discovery of the skeleton in the school’s old building, Hae-seong and Dong-min investigate further. But soon, they find that the bones are a prop—it’s merely a fake. But in a ballet shoe with the skeleton, Hae-seong discovers an odd key. When they are trying to figure it out, they are caught by Principal Park and get a warning.

Hae-seong then goes back to his NIS team and tells them something intriguing: the skeleton was dressed in a 1950s high school uniform and was found in an antique ballet studio. Strangely enough, it was missing a leg and a missing tutu, which precisely matches one of the school’s famous ghost stories. But the most shocking discovery? The key has an inscription of “The Beginning of the Gold Bar”, which means that the legend could very well be true. With the gold bars still missing, Hae-seong and his team go on to examine the school’s four ghost stories for more clues.

At the same time, teacher O Su-a begins to suspect Hae-seong when she gets a call from Dong-min’s grandmother regarding an ID she had given Dong-min’s “friend.” But when Su-a asks for the name of the friend, the response surprises her—it is Hae-seong. She is perplexed and suspicious and now is watching him closely.

Hae-seong, who is determined to get to the bottom of the ghost rumors, asks Dong-min more questions. Dong-min tells him the second one—the Grandfather Clock. The clock apparently doesn’t function, but occasionally, when you’re all alone in school, it does ring, indicating the coming of Crimson Eyes. He is just about to tell him more when Su-a happens by and drags Hae-seong away, accusing him of taking Dong-min’s grandmother’s ID. Hae-seong is quick to know what’s going on—Park Tae-soo, the school bully, must have taken it. But Su-a will not listen to him and drags him directly to the student council room.

Su-a later secretly tails Tae-soo and catches him bullying Dong-min. She attempts to stop him, but Tae-soo, as usual, reminds her that she’s a substitute teacher and advises her to mind her own business if she doesn’t want to get fired. Things are worsened when even her colleagues advise her to drop it, leaving her helpless.

At the same time, Hae-seong starts worrying about Dong-min’s safety. He thinks about intervening, but it’s not a good idea to blow his cover by revealing too much. That night he stopped by a convenience store to buy food, he encountered O Su-a by accident, because she lives just around the corner. They share a few uncomfortable but short words, and Su-a, sensing she may have been too hard, apologizes. They, however, cannot have a chance to pursue this conversation when Hae-seong receives a shocking telephone call—Dong-min’s grandmother is arrested for an illegal gaming house.

Hae-seong rushes to the police station and soon discovers the truth—Tae-soo had gambled online using Dong-min’s grandmother’s ID. Enraged, he tells Su-a to do something, but Su-a, now set on revenge, posts anonymously on the school website about Tae-soo’s offenses. The chairwoman reads the post and promptly orders a disciplinary hearing.

But in the greatest shock of all, Dong-min betrays Hae-seong at the meeting. Instead of exposing Tae-soo’s true nature, he falsely accuses Hae-seong of being the real bully. The chairwoman, believing that he is telling the truth, then proceeds to punish Hae-seong. But Hae-seong is not fooled—he knows that Tae-soo must be blackmailing Dong-min to lie.

As the series continues to move towards its climax, Hae-seong makes a sudden move. He arrives at school on his motorcycle, with a mysterious man—a man with some connection to the gambling den. Whatever is going to happen, it’s clear that he’s no longer playing it safe.

Undercover High School Episode 3 Review

This episode was an absolute rollercoaster! The ghost story mystery is getting deeper, and the link to the missing gold bars is being revealed. But what really took me by surprise was the emotional depth—particularly in the friendship between Hae-seong and Dong-min. Hae-seong obviously has a soft spot for him, and I feel breaking heart watching Dong-min betray him, even if we know it’s not his fault.

The bullying subplot is also handled superbly. Tae-soo is the worst of the worst, and it’s maddening to see how much control he has over students and teachers. I was actually hoping Su-a would fight back against him, but I can see why she won’t—it’s not simple when the whole system is against you.

The cliffhanger at the end of the episode leaves me on pins and needles! Who is this man Hae-seong has brought to school? Will he reveal Tae-soo and at last bring justice to Dong-min? But above all, will there be more revelations on the secret gold bars within the school?

Undercover High School is now streaming on Viki.
