TWICE This Is For MV arrives as a powerful, energetic anthem designed to empower and energize women. I was curious to see how the group would grow with their fourth studio album—and particularly even more curious when I saw title track’s length of a mere two minutes. Can a track so brief deliver enough oomph to give us what we’re accustomed to from one of K-pop’s most consistent girl groups? Surprisingly, yes!
TWICE This Is For MV Review
TWICE This Is For is a celebration of sisterhood. There is something to be said for a group of women taking their platform and using it to hold up other women, and TWICE does that with this comeback. The song comes across as a love letter to the women who have been marginalized, under-valued, or who simply need to be reminded that they are enough. That is a message that is deafening and obvious, and emotionally resonates. It’s refreshing, reassuring, and unapologetically empowering.

The MV lends even greater credence to this message. Pastel-hued bright sets, fun fashion, and contagious energy—everything in the MV screams joy and camaraderie. It’s not attempting to be experimental or provocative to look at, and that’s fine. The message itself appears to be one of projecting warmth and confidence. TWICE has always been well-versed in using their charm on screen, and This Is For song doesn’t deviate from that. Each member projects her own presence onto the screen, so it’s like everyone working towards spreading light.
Musically, This Is For is borrowing from the early 2000s pop-R&B, the hooky beat immediately flooding in with waves of nostalgia. The production is minimalist to the point where the song is simply a pleasure to listen to, especially when the chorus hits. The instrumentation is low-key, but that only serves to give the message and vocals centre stage. And let’s face it—TWICE can make even the most basic groove sound fresh and alive.

My only complaint about the song is that it wasn’t longer. With only 2 minutes and 11 seconds to fill and nine singers to showcase, the song never quite gets into its groove. Just when it is ready to finally get its groove on, the song is finished. The hook is catchy but arrives too soon and loops back before it has a chance to be firmly planted. Rather than an amazing ending, the song trudges on with ideas that are more like fragments of a concept and not a complete song.
But thematically, TWICE This Is For does something to be applauded. In a world that would rather pit women against each other or devalue the labor of feeling and inner strength, the group, on the other hand, is one that is to be celebrated. The song is sung not in the name of heartache or bitterness, but solidarity and celebration. It’s about seizing power, occupying space, and celebrating what makes a woman unique. That’s a message I’ll be advocating for all eternity, and one that TWICE is bringing in sincerity.

If I had to sum this song up in one sentence, I’d say this is a party flash-in-the-pan good time musically that is filled with sincerity and energy. TWICE This Is For lyrics, message, charm, and visual appeal make it a worthy addition to their discography.
TWICE’s This Is For feels like a tailor-made summer song—fast, upbeat, and a mood-booster to be turned up loud, danced freely, and dedicated to the females who must be seen.
