KPop Demon Hunters Ending Explained: This animated feature, directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, is a sensational blend of pop spectacle and supernatural fantasy. It features a star-studded voice cast, led by Arden Cho as Rumi, May Hong as Mira, Ji-young Yoo as Zoey, Ahn Hyo-seop as Jinu, Yunjin Kim as Celine, and Ken Jeong as Bobby. The terrifying figure of Gwi-Ma is provided by seasoned Korean actor Lee Byung-hun, who booms his voice into the film’s darker moments. At the centre of this animated action is the story of three world idols who live a double existence — during the day, they top the charts, and in the evening, they fight demons.
The KPop Demon Hunters movie revolves around Huntrix — a K-pop girl group comprised of Rumi, Mira and Zoey, who are musical idols and mystical warriors. Every one of them is vibrant in her own way: Rumi is fiery and dynamic, Mira is down-to-earth and crafty, and Zoey is spunky and attitude-filled. Together, their song harmonies not only make swoony fans — they also form a magical force field, the Honmoon, that keeps demons away. Beneath the glamour and sparkle of the stage is a far more sinister truth, with the trio’s music being mankind’s last defence against evil soul-sucking monsters who work for the malevolent Gwi-Ma.
But just when Huntrix is about to reach their peak. Rumi begins to wrestle with a secret regarding who she really is that seeks to destroy the group. At the same time, the demons fight back with one of their own dirty tricks: They create their own K-pop-like arsenal — the Saja Boys. The fresh boy band, consisting of the smooth but dysfunctional Jinu at its head, uses its charisma and its following to undercut Huntrix’s undermine Huntrix’s popularity and weaken their power. These are a few of the movie’s wittiest and most satirically insightful scenes, showing how fandoms can be created and destroyed in a matter of seconds, and cheekily looking askance at the boy band craze.

KPop Demon Hunters Ending Explained
What Happened to Saja Boys?
Jinu and Saja Boys were never just another opposing K-pop boy group. They were Gwi-Ma’s pawns to manipulate public opinion, draining Huntrix’s popularity and eroding the supernatural firewall called Honmoon, guarding the human world from demons. Diabolical Gwi-Ma’s evil plan was to devour the souls of people too blind to understand that they were worshipping the wrong idols.
The Saja Boys, sweet and viral in their actions, collected supporters against Huntrix. The saddest part of the movie was Jinu’s betrayal. As much as he concedes saving Rumi at the start, guilt over having sacrificed his mother and sister to celebrity some time ago, and fear of Gwi-Ma led him to reveal Rumi’s secret during the award night performance.

He revealed the demons’ projection, revealing Huntrix to the world, and brought them low in shame. As the Saja Boys, led by Gwi-Ma, who hypnotised the mob and led them into the stadium, where they began draining their souls. It was a chilling reminder of the danger of blind adoration to be manipulated. Their tyranny, however, was not going to endure.
Did Rumi Accept Her Identity?
The surprise in this tale was that Rumi’s real identity had been concealed. She is half-demon, half-human, and her abilities make it natural for her to be the guardian of the Honmoon. However, the tattoos on her body were an open statement of where she came from, and something she had been asked to keep secret so that she could function as a K-pop idol. It was her godmother, Celine, who had explained to her that when the Honeymoon became Golden Honmoon these marks would fade away.

But Rumi was still not ready to deny. And in a moment of valiant self-acceptance, she decided to show the world who she truly was. That moment of vulnerability — and her not-fake Karaoke singing skills — was enough to rekindle Mira and Zoey’s allegiance. That was when the group came to understand that despite Rumi’s demon heritage, their connection was far stronger than what lay beneath or what the secrets table showed. They were sisters, and they would battle together.
For the last time, Huntrix ascended to the stage as warriors, not pop icons. With harmony, honesty, and music in their favour, they conquered Gwi-Ma in a battle face-to-face.

What Happened to Jinu?
Jinu sacrificed himself. When he understood that Gwi-Ma would never give him freedom — and that Rumi was in danger — he turned on his master. In a moment of redemption, he sabotaged Gwi-Ma’s soul-sucking ritual and allowed Huntrix to murder the demon.
The Saja Boys disappeared when Gwi-Ma was imprisoned and his influence was shattered. Whether they died or disintegrated is left undecided, but one thing is certain: their fame is an illusion born of demoniacal influence. No tears can mend things that went wrong, but the slap at Jinu was sorely needed for the tide to turn.

Did Huntrix Defeat Gwi-Ma?
Yes, Gwi-Ma was defeated in the battle, but not destroyed. He was once more pushed out of the underworld by the emplotment of the Golden Honmoon. This awe-inspiring wall of protection, constructed when the voices and the spirits of Huntrix agreed, closed off the demon world, at least temporarily. The real triumph was not so much closing Gwi-Ma, but it was in reclaiming their authenticity, repairing their bond, their relationship, and winning the hearts of their fans. In the KPop Demon Hunters ending, Rumi accepting her own self, Mira and Zoey forgiving her later on, and Jinu giving up his life to atone for his mistakes all helped in that triumph.
The animated movie KPop Demon Hunters is now streaming on Netflix.
