Kdramas Releasing in October 2025: Genie Make a Wish, Would You Marry Me, Moon River And More

Kdramas Releasing in October 2025: This year has been flying by, and it almost seems dreamlike that we’ve already entered the fourth quarter of the year. September provided us with plenty to talk about regarding K-dramas—Bon Appetit, Your Majesty wrapped up the palace politicking neatly with an episode to get people buzzing, whilst Tempest raised the stakes with romance, betrayal, and some great moments of drama peppered throughout its middle eps.

Twelve, unfortunately, didn’t exactly pay off the goods with sagging writing amongst the fantasy group. Luckily, You and Everything Else provided us emotional storylines that resonated, and Queen Mantis kept us on the edge of our seats through complex characters and a successful story of tension. So, yes, September was a grab-bag, but gosh, it kept us glued.

Genie Make a Wish (October 3, 2025 | Netflix)

When a drama reunites Kim Woo-bin and Bae Suzy after almost a decade since Uncontrollably Fond, expectations automatically go through the roof. Genie, Make a Wish is the very type of reunion, mixing romance, fantasy, and comedy that seems perfect both for nostalgia and original storytelling. Kim Woo-bin plays the wicked, mysterious Genie, while Suzy is Ga Yeong, the woman whose restrained, expressionless nature doesn’t exactly make her a likely candidate for a fairy tale whirlwind romance. Directors Lee Byung-hun, who excel at blending emotion with grandeur, guide the series.

What gets us most hyped about this drama is the A-list cast, yes, but also the darker subversion that lies behind the fantastical premise. Ga Yeong’s psychopathic tendencies, as well as Genie’s true identity as Iblis (i.e. Satan himself), turn the tension up exponentially beyond your standard fairy tale wish-fulfilment. It’s no romance—it’s the struggle between human grit vs devilish temptation, a pinch of comedy, chaos, and heartstrings, likely. Fans are hoping to see the chemistry that supposedly developed between Suzy and Woo-bin, as well as whether this drama will give us another dynamic duo that will be the subject of debate years after the finale.

Would You Marry Me? (October 10 – November 15, 2025)

Rom-com enthusiasts need all the reasons to be excited about Would You Marry Me?, which casts Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min as star-crossed lovers in a tender yet comedic romance. Choi plays the perfectionist heir to the oldest bakery empire in South Korea, Kim U-ju, while Jung So-min plays the offbeat designer Yoo Me-ri, who resorts to fake marriage due to the hardships that she is facing. Directed by Song Hyun-wook and Hwang In-hyeok, the first impressions here clearly indicate that the show promises the carefree essence of the old-time favourites like Marriage, Not Dating, albeit infused with a perfect dose of the current era.

What gives the stakes an emotional depth under the comedic framework is that it is no “pretend husband” scenario—it is the story about two broken individuals harmed through betrayal and weighed down through responsibility, pushed together into an alliance that possibly heals both. The tension between Kim U-ju’s rational selfishness and Yoo Me-ri’s temperamental nature becomes the foundation for complex repartee, emotional confrontations, as well as, possibly, love sparks. Backed up through support actors like Seo Bum-june and Shin Seul-ki, bringing more layers.

Typhoon Family (October 11 – November 30, 2025 | Netflix)

At times, the greatest K-dramas come about as a product of reflection, as is the case with the story behind Typhoon Family, which sets the scene during the tumultuous time of the 1997 South Korean financial crisis. Starring Lee Jun-ho as Kang Tae-pung, the erstwhile free-spirited heir who is suddenly pushed into the CEO spot after his father’s death, the drama holds the promise of an emotional blend of family, survival, and optimism. Alongside him, there is the acting of Kim Min-ha as O Mi-seon, the diligent bookkeeper whose little, yet consistent, acts of sincerity and industry form the crux of the story. Directed by Lee Na-jung, the drama possesses both gravity and intimacy.

What’s so appealing about Typhoon Family is that it takes place during an actual historical time that influenced millions of Koreans, superimposing that over the internal struggle within the characters. Tae-pung’s growth from pampered son to effective leader sounded like something more than a forced fictional arc—it’s the universal story of rising to the challenge during trying times. Sung Dong-il, joining the cast, hopes to balance tender emotional family relationships with the overall societal framework. It would be all too easy to see this be the most tear-jerking family drama of the year.

The Dream Life of Mr. Kim (October 25 – November 30, 2025)

Ryu Seung-ryong is always great at depicting middle-aged men torn between comedy and heartbreak, so The Dream Life of Mr Kim hopes to keep that track record alive. It tracks the story of Kim Nak-su, a former successful salesman who slips up professionally as well as personally, and embarks on a quest to figure out what’s most important. Under the direction of Jo Hyun-tak, the drama holds the potential to be both funny and introspectively serious, mixing the warmth of a slice-of-life drama with an acerbic examination of middle-age malaise.

This drama is most awaited because it touches a universal chord—the fear that comes with losing identity, being defined as mere career or family. It’s not about grandeur; it’s about the inner strength that comes with beginning anew, experiencing happiness through small things, and rebuilding happiness after everything breaks down. Starring Myung Se-bin and Cha Kang-yoon, the audience can already look forward to tender performances that make this an absolute must-watch for those who love stories based on actual human emotions.

Spirit Fingers (October 29, 2025)

Spirit Fingers is the ultimate teenage drama that is offbeat yet heartwarming, as it is the original webtoon adaptation. Park Ji-hu plays the role of shy, accident-involving teenager Song U-yeon. Joined by Cho Jun-young, Choi Bo-min, and Park You-na, the drama introduces us to the vibrant group of characters that live up to or represent some aspect of being a teenager. Directed by Lee Chul-ha, this is among the most anticipated teenage dramas this year.

What captures the euphoria around Spirit Fingers is the possibility to reimagine the effervescent upheaval of teenage years—to build self-confidence, learn about the expression of self, and receive friendships that define who we are. It is a wonderful premise, the art club, where slapstick comedy as well as emotional life lessons enter the scene. Filled with the energy of youth, emotional depth, and lovable characters, this drama is ready to be the next cult favourite among teens and young adults.

Moon River (31 October – 13 December, 2025)

Ending the month on a high note is Moon River, a historical romance fantasy starring Kang Tae-oh and Kim Se-jeong. The series follows Crown Prince Yi Gang, who loses his beloved crown princess and becomes consumed by revenge, only to cross paths with a merchant who looks exactly like his lost love. When a mysterious body-swap throws them into chaos, secrets of love, identity, and fate unfold in dramatic fashion. Directed by Lee Dong-hyeon, the series combines historical grandeur with magical twists.

Moon River will combine palace politicking, fantasies, and angst-ridden romance. Seriousness as the mourning prince paired with the merchant-turned-princess charm of Kim Se-jeong holds the possibility of a chemistry-packed ride. Matched up with effective support where Lee Shin-young and Jin Goo shine, the drama should be appealing as much to fans who enjoy historical epics as they do to fans who enjoy fantasies about romance. It is the type that has the potential to cap the latter part of the month of October with great drama as much as epic sentiment.
