With only three episodes left before the finale, season 4 of EXchange has reached an emotional breaking point. In the preview clip, Yun-nyeong asks a provocative question: if an ex had sincerely tried to sway you, would you have been moved? In another gut-wrenching moment, Baek-hyun confronts Yoo-sik with a question: even if Baek-hyun were to frankly confess to Hyeon-ji right now, would he still pursue her? The viewers are gradually gaining a feeling of who might end up with whom.

EXchange Season 4 Episode 18 Recap
Episode 18 of EXchange Season 4 starts with Won-kyu writing a sweet note to Ji-hyeon before breakfast, during which he also speaks with Ji-yeon. Ji-yeon addresses the T-shirt she grabbed from Won-kyu the other day and mentions, upon finding out Ji-hyeon is his ex-girlfriend, that she thinks she may have unintentionally hurt her. The atmosphere turns awkward when Woo-jin comes in, visibly disturbed that Ji-yeon is with Won-kyu, and quietly leaves.
Later, Won-kyu meets Ji-hyeon to give her a present and the letter he has written. Meanwhile, the casual date between Yoo-sik and Hyeon-ji develops naturally. The couple appears as if they are in love and are as comfortable with each other.
There is a telling interchange between Won-kyu and Ji-hyeon in which he acknowledges his mistakes during their relationship and, more importantly, his realisation of why she harboured resentment toward him afterwards. His honesty and determination to change seem genuine, suggesting real emotional growth.
Transit Love Season 4 Episode 18 sees its most difficult moment in the unravelling of Min-kyung. Later at night, when Yoo-sik and Hyeon-ji return late from their date, she becomes increasingly agitated. She proceeds to his room, confronting him about how betrayed and forgotten she feels, even after nine years and telling him that she wants him back now. And once more, the tears well up.
Min-kyung persuades Yoo-sik not to continue seeing Hyeon-ji, saying that his feelings will only grow stronger, and he should at least wait until the ex-date. Yoo-sik does agree—at least in words. But then the mutual date letter finally comes, and everything changes. In a mutual date, the two participants have to pick each other’s names. Woo-jin’s choice is the most sincere in that he writes Yun-nyeong’s name without a second thought, with the intention of making things clear for Ji-yeon. The results of their mutual dating come out:

Min-kyung gets crushed as she sees Yoo-sik picking Hyeon-ji. She confronts him, angry, bringing up marriage and saying he has treated her poorly all along while she has hung on to their nine-year history. She issues an ultimatum, saying that if things don’t work out, she will cut him out of her life completely.
After that, Yoo-sik, Won-kyu, and Seung-yong have drinks together, and during that, Seung-yong inquires about Yoo-sik’s split with Min-kyung. Yoo-sik admits the central issue was marriage and says that no matter how understanding Min-kyung says she is now, a long relationship always leads to marriage—the thing he is not prepared for.
In Episode 18 of Transit Love Season 4, we also see Woo-jin being disturbed by Ji-yeon’s choice of going out with Won-kyu. Ji-yeon apologises, saying that she didn’t give it much thought before she wrote down the name of Won-kyu. However, their discussion strengthens the impression that they are most likely to get back together.
At last, Hyeon-ji has a chat with Seung-yong, and it becomes clear that he might have a little success in persuading her. She confesses that she wishes to have a conversation with Yoo-sik about his viewpoint on marriage, but has not been able to muster the courage— and he never mentions it either. Her ambiguity continues as the episode closes, and it sets the scene for a truth game that might ultimately compel all of them to face what they genuinely want.
