Delusion Ending Explained: Directed by Chayan Laoyodtrakool, ภาพลวงตาย stars Natapohn Tameeruks as Wan, Jespipat Tilapornputt as Pete, Surasak Chaiyaat as Narong, Vachiravit Paisarnkulwong as Wat, Sirani Yankittikan as Pannee, TAE as Yote and others. The Thai psychological mystery drama consists of six episodes, with each episode running for around 50 minutes.

Was Phii Pong Real?
Phii Pong is not the murderer in Delusion. The use of the concept of the supernatural being in this movie gives the impression that the murders were committed by a malevolent force from ancient times, while in reality, the murderers are very human. Sak, the brother of Pannee, was the person who invented and spread the myth about the supernatural being after the murderer had started committing his killings. By posing as a shaman who was able to get rid of the spirit, he took advantage of the superstitions of the villagers. Even one more killing was committed by Sak to support the myth about the supernatural being.
Nevertheless, Phii Pong belongs to the Thai folk culture, and thus the program does not imply that the myth and the name were made up by someone. It is the claim about the presence of the ghost who committed the murders in Na Sao that was created artificially.
How Did Sak Die?
The murder of Sak came as a result of his greed, which forced him into a dangerous situation. He had been trying to exploit the crimes of Wat and the tale of Phii Pong to extort Narong and Pannee, who were threatened that he would reveal their family secret in exchange for the land and money. Even after finding out that Narong had dementia, Sak still went on pressuring them, to the point of revealing the buried corpse of Wat’s first victim.
At last, Pannee snapped and beat up Sak because she could no longer tolerate his intimidation and blackmailing anymore. But unfortunately, Sak was killed by Wat because Wat wanted to kill anyone who might reveal his secret. Wat had long been intent on getting rid of anyone who might betray him. In addition, Sak was another potential threat since he knew something about the family’s past. The murder of Sak reveals that the chain started with Wat’s initial killing has become a cycle.
How Was Yote Killed?
At the end of the Delusion Thai series, Yote was murdered at the lakehouse following the physical conflict between him and Wan. Wan came to the lakehouse because she intended to get back the money and a camera that she was using against Yote regarding how he was treating Aim, their son. Yote came to the lakehouse with Aim, telling him to stay inside the vehicle and enter the house. When Yote was left alone with Wan, they argued about several things, like money and how she was treating Aim. Yote went on to attack her and try to kill her.
Narong came and intervened. He attacked Yote and ended up killing him, though how Wan was involved in the incident is kept a little vague in the series. The TV show allows for two possibilities – that at first Wan might have tried to intervene because of the severity of Narong’s actions, or that she might have let Narong intervene since Yote was going to kill her and later intervene when he overdid it. In either case, it is Narong who ends up killing Yote, and his death leads to his arrest by the police.
Who Was the Killer of Delusion Drama?
The culprit behind the serial killings was Wat. He started to become a murderer at an early age. Wat was taunted by another boy after accusing him of being associated with Phii Pong. When he cried out for help from his sister Wan, she failed to respond. The other boy then locked Wat inside their family’s storehouse, surrounded by frogs making Wat to survive in that environment. When the other boy came back and realised what happened, Wat threw him off the elevated structure, which made him fall on top of a rake and die. Instead of solving the matter, Narong and Pannee covered up the murder using Sak’s help.
With growing age, Wat invented his version of justice and started to kill individuals whom he considered to be either a threat to the safety of Na Sao or simply undeserving of life. He believed that he was protecting his family by killing these people. His family’s choice to cover up the first murder of Wat made it possible for this kind of behaviour to proceed further without any interruptions. Wat managed to become a doctor, thus having even more chances to meet people.
The decision of Sak to make the story about Wat’s murders a basis for the legend about Phii Pong became the main source of complications. When Sak later started to blackmail Narong and Pannee because of the murder and demanded their land, he himself turned into a victim. Pannee attacked Sak first, while Wat killed him later.
Why Did Wan Let Wat Go at the End of Delusion?
Eventually, at the ending of Delusion, we see that Wan decided to save Wat rather than telling the police all the things that she knows. By the time she realised the truth, she came to know that the murders had some connection with her family, and her parents had kept Wat’s criminal activities secret for many years. Wat kidnapped both Wan and Aim and took them into the forest, where he told his history and how he lived his life. Despite doing all these bad deeds, Wat set them free and did not kill them. When Wan was saved by Pete and the police, she had an opportunity to tell everything to them.
Wan’s decision was connected to the complex loyalties and guilt in the family. First, Wan was able to see her father take on the role of one who was responsible for the murder of Yote, but at the same time, her mother kept trying to protect Wat and keep his secret safe. Secondly, Wan faced her memories about Wat’s childhood and realised that she could not do anything to help him when Wat was bullied in the past. In addition, Wat reminded her of that episode and told her to try to behave as a sister now. Instead of revealing the secret, Wan stayed in Na Sao together with Aim and kept the secret hidden.
Was Pete Able to Figure Out the Truth?
Indeed, at one point Pete managed to find out that the killer involved in these killings was Wat. Unlike the villagers who accepted the supernatural explanation, from the very beginning, Pete was more sceptical about it and decided to look for the truth. The man observed that the murders were similar to other murders in other places and decided to find the common factor in all of them. However, as time went by, Pete realised that there was some other secret that lay behind the actions of the family and Narong. Eventually, he came up with evidence that murders were committed while Wat was in those areas, thus realising who the killer was.
In the end of Delusion, Pete does not go ahead to arrest Wat since the case cannot be proven, as he does not have concrete evidence that he can use in proving the whole case. At this time, Narong has already been arrested for the murder of Yote; there had been silence from the family concerning Wat and, as such, the case involving Phii Pong is now over in the eyes of the authorities.
Pete was also moved to Bangkok, where he could no longer work on the case as before. Nevertheless, before moving, he confronted Wan and told her that he knew Wat was actually the murderer and that the truth would definitely come out. Wan, on her part, pretended not to know what he was talking about.
