Just when I thought ATEEZ couldn’t shake me with a music video anymore, they delivered with In Your Fantasy MV a song that seeps like a late-night fever dream wrapped in synths, sweat, and sleekness. The track was released as part of the special edition of GOLDEN HOUR : Part. 3 (In Your Fantasy Edition) on July 11, 2025, this latest iteration does more than simply bring the album up to speed; it redefines the era! And somehow, it works.

Right after the hype of Lemon Drop, a fun, summery song that I had playing on repeat for weeks, I didn’t think that ATEEZ would make such a left-turn — and yet, I’m thankful that they did. ATEEZ’s In Your Fantasy is the title track, in English, but the atmosphere is universally evident. The moment the beat kicks in, you’re in a dark world which is half dance floor, half dreamscape. It is chilly, it is glossy, it has attitude.

This is a classic ATEEZ title track that we always expect from them. The big-drama, cinematic sheen that we’ve grown to expect from their major comebacks, but now filtered through an icy, funk-laced electro-pop filter. There’s a throbbing pulse driving the song — something gritty, metallic, and trance-inducing — and it makes me think of late 2000s music and Justin Timberlake, but filtered through the eyes of K-pop.

There’s something utterly addictive about how ATEEZ In Your Fantasy song rides its groove. It’s not in a rush to give you a huge melodic hook; it quietly keeps a bubbling, well-timed tension. Vocals are clipped and staccato — hard lines, clean beats, not-too-much digital, and just enough angst. It’s minimalist in design, but the production is so precise you’re addicted from the first millisecond to the last.

I’ve always been a sucker for these pyrotechnic choruses as an older Ateez fan — the swooping, shout-it-from-the-mountaintops stuff that characterises songs like Wonderland, Guerrilla and Bouncy. But In Your Fantasy song isn’t attempting that. Instead, it exists on mood and texture. The chorus doesn’t explode; it exhales. It dips down when you expect it to swell, and curiously enough, that’s a choice that feels fearless.

Would I have enjoyed a killer bridge or a mind-blowing post-chorus? Maybe. But the song’s refusal to follow the trend down the road of predictability is what makes it so captivating. It’s not playing it safe; it’s breaking new ground. ATEEZ has always been a visual unit — their MVs are essentially short movies — but the music video for In Your Fantasy is perhaps one of their most polished to date. Black and maroon overwhelm the whole game with a sense of dark fantasy – it definitely sets the mood. The settings are dreamlike, almost staged, but somehow based on something human — desire, power, self-confidence.

Each member has their moment in the spotlight, and the cinematography captures them as if they were living statues. There’s beauty in all its shots, but also fervour. The choreography is sharp and aggressive, and there’s that razor-sharp polish that really pulls you in. And when I was watching it, I was engrossed — not so much in the dance, but in the haze. It’s not about being cool; it’s about taking over the space.

The song is 3 minutes and 36 seconds long, and it is full of moments that linger. There’s something unashamedly mature to this release — not in a manufactured, ‘edgy’ way, but in how organic ATEEZ sounds to go darker and sexier with this theme. I also couldn’t help but notice the context. The group just renewed their contract with their label for another seven years and are on another ginormous world tour. Amidst all that, they dropped a re-packaged album with not just this new aggressive title track but also solos from every member — a fan treat, perhaps, but also an unmistakable warning sign that ATEEZ is still expanding, still hungry, still raising the bar, yikes.
