See You At Work Tomorrow Episode 1-2 Review: Adapted from the webtoon by McQueen Studio, 내일도 출근! is a workplace romance directed by Jo Eun-sol and written by Kim Gyeong-min. The drama stars Park Ji-hyun as Cha Ji-yoon and Seo In-guk as Kang Si-woo, alongside Kang Mi-na, Choi Kyung-hoon, Won Gyu-bin, and others.

See You At Work Tomorrow episode 1 opens with Ji-yoon being very worried about her boyfriend, Ga-eul, while she prepares to pop the question at the same time. However, all her dreams are dashed by him when he sends a message saying that he will be out of town and unable to meet her again.
Ji-yoon had been working for eight months back at her regular job at Saeum Electronics. Although Ji-yoon is well-received for her skill, the work environment pressures her greatly after years of employment. As Ji-yoon makes her way to work, she wonders how the employees make it to work each day despite their fatigue and frustrations. When Ji-yoon gets to her workplace, everybody starts talking about Kang Si-woo, who has arrived from abroad and is a famous and demanding perfectionist.
Their first meeting occurs at a plant where manufacturing of a newly developed refrigerator stops due to disputes between engineers and factory workers. According to Ji-yoon, it is necessary to find some solutions simultaneously to stop manufacturing. But on the other hand, Si-woo says that before resolving all the disputes, manufacturing cannot be started. With such a determined stance towards everything, he ends up stopping the manufacturing process. While coming back home, he surprises her by saying that she has changed, but it becomes difficult for her to understand how, as she knows nothing about him.
Coming back to the office, it becomes a tough day for her as her boss makes use of her efforts. Her situation goes even worse when she notices that her idea is being presented by her boss as his own in an important meeting. While Ji-yoon is strongly tempted to confront him, she decides not to let slip about her uncompleted proposal on the problem with the product.
On the other hand, Si-woo comes across her notebook, which is filled with sketches and creative thoughts. Outside her work, Ji-yoon does not live a calmer life either. Her mother keeps arranging blind dates despite the fact that Ji-yoon is not into any romantic relationships at all. While planning a wedding for her colleague, Ji-yoon realises by accident that the bride was once married to Si-woo. Following some miscommunication related to the wedding, Si-woo invites Ji-yoon out for drinks. At the end of episode 1 of See You At Work Tomorrow, they have a surprisingly honest talk on romantic and work-related topics.
See You At Work Tomorrow Episode 2 Recap
Episode 2 of See You at Work Tomorrow continues to demonstrate the embarrassment associated with the consequences of Ji-yoon and Si-woo’s night together. Being ashamed about how much she had drunk, Ji-yoon tries hard not to meet Si-woo at work. Nevertheless, any of his attempts to establish contact only add fuel to the fire among his colleagues, who are convinced that something more than friendship occurs between them.
At the same time, Si-woo starts recruiting a team for the renovation of the frozen project of the refrigerator. Searching for competent specialists, he keeps coming across the book of Ji-yoon, full of creative ideas. Finally, realising that she is exactly what he needs in his team, Si-woo invites her to collaborate with him.
The proposal may seem like an amazing offer to Ji-yoon; however, Ji-yoon rejects it. Ji-yoon thinks that she has to be loyal to her current colleagues and is emotionally connected with projects on which she has worked for many years. It is not only about the loyalty of Ji-yoon but also about the fact that Ji-yoon does not want to experience another heartbreak.
Suddenly, Ga-eul appears after being silent for several months for no good reason. He does not give any reason to Ji-yoon and just asks for one last chance. Ji-yoon rejects his request due to their past and the heartbreak she has experienced from him. This encounter is a positive point in the life of Ji-yoon, as now she realises that she has to think about herself.
It all comes to the worst when Ji-yoon witnesses her manager bullying one of her coworkers publicly. She cannot tolerate it any longer and decides to go to the office to give him a piece of her mind, but gets ridiculed for her effort. Frustrated with everything happening in her surroundings, she writes a resignation letter at home.
Then she begins searching for the belongings of her ex-boyfriend and finds the very same notebook that he was reading before. There were quite a few constructive comments and appreciations of her ideas noted down inside. This may be the first time in quite a while that her talents get acknowledged without taking credit for them. Energised and confident, Ji-yoon chooses to accept Si-woo’s offer of joining his task force. See You At Work Tomorrow Episode 2 finishes with a great beginning of Ji-yoon’s new career path.
See You At Work Tomorrow Episode 1-2 Review
The first two episodes of See You At Work Tomorrow kdrama left me with a mostly positive impression of the show since it clearly understands what story it has to tell. Instead of relying on romantic clichés, such as exaggerated romances, the drama tells the story of burnouts, dissatisfaction at work, and psychological traumas which go with growing up. Everything feels very realistic, and I believe that lots of problems that Ji-yoon faces would relate to viewers who have experienced similar situations when they worked in an unhealthy office environment. Nonetheless, the show moves relatively slowly compared to other romantic comedies.
What impressed me the most was the performance of Park Ji-hyun as Cha Ji-yoon. She manages to express feelings of fatigue about giving your whole life to something but not receiving any appreciation for it. Despite being intelligent and competent, Ji-yoon becomes psychologically traumatised from her romantic disappointment and the workplace environment. Park Ji-hyun skillfully combines fragility and strength, so that we understand why Ji-yoon is where she is and wish that she would change that.
Similarly, Seo In-guk also looks equally endearing as Kang Si-woo. Initially, he appears to be cold, intimidating and unreachable. However, as the story unfolds, one gets to see a different side of him. He is a very sensible person. It is very admirable how he feels for Ji-yoon because of her hard work. The actor Seo In-guk is very charismatic. There have been certain instances where he is seen being observant but not saying much about what he observes. It is very clear that the chemistry between the two of them is quite genuine since they respect each other.
The coworkers of Ji-yoon provide background information about the working atmosphere of the protagonist, whereas the constant efforts of her mother to arrange matches add a funny element to this drama. Moreover, the character of Ga-eul is important as it demonstrates the growth of Ji-yoon as an individual. The involvement of people who had been in a relationship before, who have experienced divorces and other problems, adds maturity to this world as compared to other romantic series.
My only criticism would be that at times, the conflicts at work can become a little cliché. Some plot lines in office politics have already been seen many times in K-dramas. Also, the slow pace of the series might become problematic for those looking for quick romance, but the authenticity of the emotions expressed by the characters compensates for this problem.
See You At Work Tomorrow Review: Summing Up
All in all, the Korean drama See You at Work Tomorrow has started off nicely. This drama presents realistic work problems, wonderful acting from the two main stars, and a fascinating story for an adult romance. Furthermore, with the fact that the heroine is finally walking down a new path and the hero becoming more and more attracted to her, there are many things to look forward to.
