Girl From Nowhere: The Reset Episode 4 Review: Under the direction of Pokpong Pairach Khumwan, Sitisiri Mongkolsiri, Patha Thongpan, Waasuthep Ketpetch, Eakasit Thairaat, and Sivaroj Kongsakul, เด็กใหม่ The Reset has Rebecca Patricia Armstrong playing the role of Nanno, alongside Jane Methika Jiranorraphat as Blossom, Atom Pracharapon Thepsukdee as Suea, Poe Piya Sastrawaha as Headmaster and others.

Girl From Nowhere: The Reset Episode 4 Recap

Episode 4 of The Girl From Nowhere: The Reset revolves around Blossom, focusing on the fact that she is a popular influencer in the university, promoting the idea of “my body, my choice.” She is popular because many girls look up to her for confidence, while the boys are crazy about her. Despite the fact that the university dean summons Blossom, cautioning her that she is ruining the university’s reputation, Blossom is not apologetic because she is confident about what she is doing.

Then Nanno enters the university and finds Blossom during an art class, and introduces herself as a fan of Blossom’s. Nanno states her admiration for Blossom, who gave her the confidence to make her own channel. At first, Blossom was overjoyed to have Nanno as her fan, but later on, she realised that Nanno was taking her position because Nanno created her own page, which started gaining popularity. Unlike Blossom, Nanno takes her videos to the next level by exposing herself, including her underwear, thus attracting a huge following. This shows the rivalry between the two, where Blossom tries to compete with Nanno’s growing popularity.

As the rivalry heightens, Blossom starts feeling threatened and ends up reporting Nanno to the dean, which is the opposite of what Blossom said earlier. The dean, however, acts on it and ensures Nanno stops, but everything changes when the university starts receiving large donations from Nanno’s fans. At this point, the university, which was condemning Nanno, ends up condoning her actions. To make the situation worse, Nanno ends up announcing a special event where the person who donates the most will have the opportunity to have a one-on-one meeting with her. At this point, Sky reappears and ends up getting the opportunity to go on a date instead, causing Nanno’s fans to be angry.

The situation gets out of hand in the final act as Nanno reveals a more outlandish prize (which is a one-night stand) in return for the donations, and the attention is enormous. When the winner of the prize is revealed along with the location of the prize, Suea and his group of boys immediately go to the hotel room to claim the prize that they feel they have “paid for.”

However, when they enter the room, to their surprise, the winner of the prize is revealed to be the university dean himself, who used the donations to his own advantage. The situation quickly turns sinister as the sense of entitlement comes into play, and they treat Nanno as if she were their property.

In a surprising and symbolic ending to the story, the group of boys tears Nanno apart while she is in the middle of talking to Blossom, making the latter confront the reality of the message she has been promoting. In the final act of Girl From Nowhere: The Reset episode 4, Blossom is left to confront the reality of the message she has been promoting; however, whether or not she understands the message is ambiguous.

Girl From Nowhere: The Reset Episode 4 Review

To be honest, I did not really enjoy watching episode 4 of Girl From Nowhere: The Reset as much as I thought I would. While the idea behind the episode is actually quite interesting, it is also quite messy. It is actually quite hard to understand what the episode is actually trying to get at or to whom it is actually getting at.

While the tension between Nanno and Blossom is something that is possible within the show, it is also something that feels like a battle for attention. While Rebecca Patricia Armstrong is still quite strong as Nanno, her character is also a bit ambiguous, as she does not really reveal anything but takes everything to an extreme.

The next issue is the fact that the episode did not clearly define its message. In the episode, various issues such as “my body, my choice” and the impact of social media influence are brought up. However, rather than exploring the issues well, the episode leaves the viewer confused. The impact of the issues is also not well felt, making the entire episode feel less impactful compared to the previous ones.

Girl From Nowhere The Reset Episode 4 Review: Summing Up

So, overall, Girl From Nowhere The Reset episode 4 can be said to be a weaker episode compared to the rest of the series. The reason for this is that, although the idea is interesting, it is not well executed, nor does it make sense. But, of course, with only two episodes remaining, I hope the next one will have good storytelling, like the first few episodes of this series.
