Collision Course Review

Netflix’s Collision Course movie opens with four characters entering a bank in Madrid; these people are named Raul, Pedro, Tomas, and Carla, and they have a certain goal, which is to rob a vault numbered 34 where the diamonds are located. The main aim for all of them is to distribute the diamonds among themselves in order to solve the problems they face in terms of finance.

Unfortunately, the plan doesn’t go according to their expectations, and something unpredictable happens during the robbery. There is no single chain of events taking place since the movie shows multiple scenarios regarding the same collision between these characters. In each scenario, the group loses one of the characters while the other three continue their lives with some problems.

However, it is necessary to confess that the Netflix film Collision Course attracted me by its way of telling the story. Many films show the ideas of time loop, alternative world, or situation repeats itself; however, this one does not invite viewers to watch similar things again. In other words, it divides the whole story into separate scenarios and lets us observe the behaviour of those who are left after the situation changes. Collision turns out to be the beginning of several stories, and I was delighted to see how everything is changing without one person.

The thing that makes all this intriguing is the way in which the movie manages to make the various scenarios more than mere repetition of each other. Every scenario gives us another chance to get to know the characters, especially when their survival will depend on how the other characters act. A character who looks like he can be trusted in one scene may turn out to be an entirely different person in another scene. All the characters find themselves having to make decisions, and seeing what happens as a result of those decisions is certainly among the best parts of the movie.

It may be added that the four robbers are not always the easiest guys to sympathise with either. Raul, Pedro, Tomas, and Carla all have different qualities that they contribute to the crime, but their relationships get increasingly tangled depending on how different situations play out. The movie is very good at messing with your head, and in particular with regard to issues of loyalty. It seems like someone always has a hidden agenda, or there is some small detail which turns out to carry a much greater significance than it would seem at first glance.

Nevertheless, I would have liked more development of their individual situations in the Netflix Spanish movie Collision Course. The recession creates the context within which the robbery takes place, and we know that they need money; however, I felt that there wasn’t enough development of their situation to make them desperate. The diamonds become a means through which they can escape their situation; however, there isn’t sufficient information on what exactly they are escaping. It would make the plot more emotionally compelling because we learn how far they were willing to go.

It is quite interesting that the story of the female police officer was the best part of the Spanish film Collision Course for me. Among all other options, this one was the most entertaining and pleasing for me. Ehwe… she was just incredible! I loved the fact that her priorities were very well set even amidst increasing chaos around her. This role adds a completely new touch to the whole story, and I became interested in what is happening with her way more than I thought at first. It would be really sad if he left her! I will not tell too much about this specific plot line, but it was truly one of the best for me.

One character that should be praised is the investigator of the robbery. This character adds another level of suspense to the film because, besides their troubles and mistakes, the criminals have to deal with another person who will put all the pieces together for them. It gets especially interesting to watch this investigation process in contrast to various scenarios that can unfold. This game of cat and mouse works rather well, despite the fact that the film often prefers another surprise to more free time for its characters.

The biggest letdown, however, is the unanswered questions about certain aspects. Why did the lady officer and her husband get involved in the robbery? Did they just want to pay off his debts? In that regard, how much did he owe? The two seemed to have decent lives and jobs; therefore, I would have appreciated a little bit of explanation as well. Did she have an ulterior motive related to her affair with another individual? This could have added even more to her story.

In all honesty, I would have loved to see something much more bleak. What if all four of them had truly died in the accident? Imagine watching the film construct all of these various scenarios only to end with a final surprise like that. Bam! Now there is a good ending! I know that this may not have been where the filmmakers wanted to go, but I can’t help wondering how powerful it could have been.

Netflix Collision Course Review: Summing Up

All in all, the 2026 movie Collision Course can be considered an intriguing experiment that succeeds in capturing my interest, even despite the weak development of characters and lack of clarity in some parts of the plot. The peculiar narration, change of allegiances, and in particular the story about the policewoman were interesting. However, the film needed some better motivation for characters and perhaps more details. Should one watch this movie? It depends. On the one hand, if one likes films that contain elements of the thriller genre and does not mind thinking over the story, it is recommended.
