Korean Movies Releasing in July 2025 are leading up to some of the year’s most highly anticipated movie events. From starry fantasy retellings to eerie subway terror, this month’s slew of releases is already shaping up to be a good one.
One of the most highly anticipated releases is an adaptation of hit web novel, Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy, with a big-budget feature film that not only brings a thrilling apocalyptic tale to the big screen, but also serves as K-pop phenomenon BLACKPINK’s Jisoo’s official movie debut, getting K-pop and K-cinema fans even more fired up. The combination of fantasy and survival — and, yeah, a Hallyu star ensemble— is what has made it one of the most highly anticipated titles out this summer.
Equally buzzworthy is Wall to Wall, a gritty city thriller of realistic apartment life that arrives on Netflix later in the upcoming month. Directed by Kim Tae-joon, who is known for his psychological thriller Unlocked, the film reunites award-winning actor Kang Ha-neul, one of Korea’s leading stars, in a performance already hailed for its emotional depth and across-the-board appeal. We can only speculate how either of these stories turns out until the film is released, but one thing’s for sure: July is going to be a suspenseful month for fans of Korean cinema worldwide.

Ginseng Boy (된장이)
If what you’re craving is zany characters, slapstick humour, and off-the-wall craziness, Ginseng Boy (된장이) could be just the zesty watch of the month. Scheduled to hit theatres on July 2, 2025, this offbeat drama follows Jenny, a stylish con artist who mooches off rich guys and blows their money on designer duds. When her con games catch up with her, she flees to a rural village close to Mt. Jirisan. And there she finds a mysterious 1,000-year-old wild ginseng wine, miraculous in its healing power.
Assuming it will be a simple snatch, she targets a weak grandfather and his strange grandson — but things are not going as planned. The craziness starts when she meets Doen Jang, the odd boy who swings a hoe and breaks out into dance at random. Kang Ji-young plays the bold Jenny, and Lee Joo-won co-stars as the stormy Doen Jang. Veteran actors Yoo Soon-woong and Lee Moon-shik round out the group. With a dash of comedy and a heart, and an odd but enjoyable premise, it’s up to an as-yet unnamed director to deliver the giggles when it hits the theatres.
Ghost Train (괴기열차)
And for the horror enthusiasts, you now have Ghost Train (괴기열차) coming out on July 9, 2025. Directed by Tak Se-woong, the film centres around Da Gyeong, the barrel-bottom YouTuber who just can’t seem to get her view count (and has the extreme attempts at going viral to serve it). Not one to miss out on fresh content, she hears about a haunted subway station where urban legends allegedly come to life.
While eager to uncover the truth, Da Gyeong finds her way to the station, where she encounters an unusual station master. What begins as a quest for content becomes a series of odd encounters as Da Gyeong is caught up in tales that are too complex to believe. Joo Hyun-young leads the driven but nervous content producer with assistance from Jeon Bae-soo as the mysterious station master. Cast Newcomers are Choi Bo-min and Kim Ji-in, bringing some much-needed energy to the spine-tingling drama. Full of tension, mystery and unsettling reality, this upcoming Korean movie of July 2025 is going to dish out some serious frights.

Wall to Wall (84제곱미터)
Released on Netflix on July 18, 2025, Wall to Wall (84제곱미터) takes a look at a very relatable style of horror: apartment living spaces. Directed by Kim Tae-joon, the movie is about Woo-sung, a man in his 30s who has finally realised his aspiration for owning a home. But acquiring the apartment did not come cheaply — there was the depletion of his savings, borrowing of money from friends and the sale of his mom’s garlic field, among others, that enabled him to own the space.
Now deep in debt, Woo-sung’s new nightmare is an upstairs neighbour whose noise pollution never stops. But things heat up when he and Jin Ho, a neighbour whose own frustrations are boiling over, join forces to try and determine what the hell is happening. Kang Ha-neul will deliver an affecting performance as Woo-sung, and Seo Hyeon-woo plays Jin Ho and Yeom Hye-ran as Eun Hwa, the resident rep trying to keep the peace. With themes of anxiety, loneliness and city survival, the film offers a realistic but compelling look at life in Korea’s thriving cities.
Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy (전지적 독자 시점)
The most anticipated Korean film coming out in July 2025 is Omniscient Reader The Prophecy (전지적 독자 시점). It is scheduled to come out on July 23, 2025. Directed by Kim Byung-woo, adapted from the bestselling web novel Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint by Sing N Song.

This action-fantasy epic is about Kim Dok-ja, a regular office worker and the sole reader of the novel for more than ten years. One day, his world collapses, and everything around him becomes the postapocalyptic world of the novel. With the knowledge of what is to happen, Kim Dok-ja goes on a thrill-packed adventure as he is accompanied by the original hero Yoo Jung-hyeok, whose cold and inaccessible nature makes him an unlikely hero, though he has manly charm.
Starring Ahn Hyo-seop as the intricate lead, Kim Dok-ja and Lee Min-ho as the strongest Yoo Jung-hyeok. The cast consists of Chae Soo-bin as Yoo Sang A, Shin Seung-ho as Lee Hyeon Seong, Nana as Jung Hui-won, and BLACKPINK member Jisoo as Lee Ji-hye. With deep world-building and action-packed stakes, this movie is going to be a game-changing release in the fantasy category.
