After giving us 12 hours of LIVE where we get to see him sleep, wake up, brush his teeth, take a bath, and get his makeup done, j-hope Sweet Dreams MV feat. Miguel is finally here! Released today, March 7, 2025, at 2 PM KST, and this song is just what ARMYs have been expecting from him. Stepping out of his usual style, in this song Jung Hoseok tries his hand at R&B in the guise of a song that is full of passion, love, and warmth.

I just want to take a moment to appreciate before I even begin the review. He’s one of those artists that just absolutely must be loved so much more than he normally is. Whenever he guest appears on a song, whatever he does is always something new and fresh, and if we look at his solo work, it’s obvious that every song and album unleashes a different side of his art.

His evolution as an artist is phenomenal, and what makes him even more unique is the fact that he never has any second thoughts about experimenting with something new. No matter if it’s rap, dance, or even something more chill like an R&B song like this one, he just keeps on showing and proving time and time again that he’s a jack-of-all-trades. Seriously, he just keeps making me love him more!

j-hope Sweet Dreams MV feat. Miguel Review

I first listened to j-hope and Miguel’s Sweet Dreams scrolling through Instagram. The song was the first song on Day 1 of his ‘HOPE ON THE STREET’ concert, and because of the fans who were in attendance, the song began going viral even before the official release. On first listen, I knew it was different.

It’s not really the type of song you would ever imagine from j-hope, which is exactly why it is so great. The song is soft, sweet, and cozy, longing to have you smile throughout its entire duration. His voice sings along perfectly in harmony with Miguel’s smooth voice, creating a song that comes across as a calming lullaby. It is the type of song that you would listen to on a peaceful night, getting drowsy and lost in the coziness.

The MV of Sweet Dreams begins with J-Hope sleeping in a room, and then his house appears floating in mid-air while the rest of the world is below. It is as if he is dreaming of his lover, giving us a surreal and weightless environment that makes the visuals more extraordinary.

The choreography is minimal but well-timed with the song so that every step looks effortless and smooth. The rap part is as beautiful as the rest of the song, and it adds an additional charm to the song. While the visuals are cute and playful, the lyrics are more passionate, and hence the contrast is all the more fun to watch.

I love all the cloud imagery and the dreamy, slightly chaotic feel throughout the MV. It is just so full of J-Hope’s visual style that it is straight-up Hobicore. The floating house made me immediately think of the animated movie Up, and the way they did that concept here is just amazing.

The chorus is certainly the standout. It is ridiculously catchy, and Miguel’s voice is so smooth when paired with J-Hope’s. The production is otherworldly, and having Johnny Goldstein behind it makes perfect sense. While the chorus is the star, the verses are charming as well. As this is J-Hope’s debut love song, the combination of sweet and spicy lines is perfect.

j-hope and Miguel’s Sweet Dreams is the kind of R&B love song that feels like a secretive confession in the dead of night—sexy, romantic, but in the barest way. It is not about overwrought passion; it is about hanging out in the soft place, where love is steady and unbreakable. The lyrics paint an intimate picture of fidelity, promising heat and comfort when the night is cold. Miguel’s smooth vocals mesh with j-hope’s carefree cadence, a hypnotic tug and pull that has the song sounding like a slow-burning embrace.

So compelling is “Sweet Dreams” because it gets the balance of sensuality and sensitivity just right. The production remains sparse, but the mood takes its proper place as j-hope croons about a love that does not dissipate when the lights are out. The repeated motif of a “diamond necklace” left behind is symbolic—love here is not just flesh; it is a presence, an afterglow that persists even after the night is gone. Set among sumptuous melodies and whispered promises, “Sweet Dreams” is not just a love song—it’s a feeling, one that remains long after the final note is silenced.

2025 has already proven to be one fantastic year for ARMYs. With three months still to go before BTS is together again after they have served their mandatory military duty, we are more than over the moon! ‘Sweet Dreams’ is the best gift to carry us along as days go by until the band comes together once more as a whole.
